so i have a question about studebaker engines. a 1953 champion strait 6 engine just came up for sale on a local cl***ifieds add. will it bolt up to my trans and the frame in my 36 dictator. what differences are there. any info would be great. the main reason i ask is that this motor is running and wouldn't need a rebuild for now. i want to put the origional motor into the car but it would be great to have something that runs with minimal work.

The Champion engine began in 1939 and is shorter with different mounting. The Commander motor, which was about a 216 to start with, fit the Dictator and later became the 245" which was used up to about 51'. I just found a runner motor/trans/OD from a 50' landcruiser which should just about drop in my 37' Dictator, though you will need to change the driveshaft to suit the odd rubber joint thing on the stock ******, or change to a later 3rd member.

The Champ engine won't work for but I have a 216 big six from a 37 dictator that will drop right in. It was a good runner before being removed. If interested email me at
studeblu@earthlink.net the engine would need to be picked up near Tucson ,AZ
