Been thinking of changing the color of the Olds. When I originally painted it, the color was some left over paint a buddy had that we just sprayed on it so that we would not run it in primer. I ran out of paint so the skirts and the rear valance shades are completely off (painted with another color). I need to go back and smooth out panels some more, work on those taillights and line up the panels a bit better. I got anxious to get it on the road and it shows. Any ideas on a color change? Photoshop ideas? This color is burned into my brain and cant seem to picture it with another color. Thanks
Nice, nice car 53choptop! Here are a few to get you thinking... Redder: A nice blue perhaps? Or a lighter blue... Green got a few votes: And... I'm partial to the gOlds : -Dave
I like the gold. Hey RONNCUSTOMDREAMS, how did you do that color layover? What program do I need to do the same? I'm trying to come up with some ideas for my 57 one fifty chevy wagon
Sweet wheels. MHO is two tone, black with a metal/pearl white top or black with a red top. Maybe that bright blue with a white metallic top. To be honest, it'll look wicked in any colour!!
great car, it looks good red-but i doubt you're going to go through all that to make it look so similar to what it looks like now.... that gold really looks great-maybe even a little more copper-ish?
Gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold,
Your present color is really flattering to the style of your custom. It looks a lot like the blood red color on my bro Rob Lee's roadster, which is an early orig. Ford color. Going back in that color family really is complementory to the Olds, but it sounds like time for a change. How about a sanitary cream with some tans or browns to compliment. I am sure your interior colors will have a lot to do with the choice. At any rate, your Olds is one of my faves, I have admired it for years. Good Luck bro. ~sololobo~
HOLY SH!T!!!!!! rodncustomdreams I cant thank you enough, I had been playing with a Gold color in my head but was not really able to see it, but dam that looks nice, actually all of them look killer. This is freakin' awesome now I have something to go from, and thanks everyone for the compliments. This is how the car use to look like, black in high school when I had no money, blue and white while i was in college when had no vision. gawd that gold looks awesome!!!
I like the lighter blue if it's pearl metallic, maybe do a dark blue or silver with real heavy flake on the roof.
It looks good in all of the colors pictured, I don't think you can go wrong. I like that blue, and the brighter red, but I like the color it is now too. This is one of the very best 4 door conversions I've seen. I see it has quarter windows now too, does it have door gl***?
I appreciate all the comments. I do have the door gl*** along with all the internals, just not in the car yet, I had to make new gl*** surrounds and shape them to fit the new opening, and of course had to get new gl*** to fit the reshaped opening, I am sending the surround out to get chromed.
Thanks, its turns out I found the paint can the color came in and the current color it is a Dupont Chrysler "Indy Red" not exactly an Olds color but I have the original color sheets for that year Olds and a majority of the above colors somewhat match the originals. But that gold,,, man it really pops.... and to add to that its an oldsmobile color too
