have a 31 coupe that i chopped about 4.5 inches..i ***embled the windshield and the tilt out mechinism.and the brackets that attach to the windshield are about 1 inch off from allowing the sliders to run straight and true.the sliders are ****ed out at an unattrctive angle to attach to the windshield brackets.they also contact the garnish mouldings when the windshield is closed . has anybody found extented brackets or modifyed theres to make them look and work better..pics would help thanks

It depends if you chop the w/s frame above or below the slide mount. What works well is to drill the spot welds that hold it to the w/s frame and move it either up or down to a spot that lets the slider work as intended. You can also move the stud thats on the A post, but with a 4.5" chop you should not need to as long as the material you removed was above the stud.

I did a 4" chop above the stud and experienced no problems, the sliders are straight and look fine.

Was the windshield mounted on the car before the chop or was it a separate piece that came with the car? If it was a separate piece then possibly it's a 28/29 windshield?? I'm just throwing **** at the wall and seeing if it sticks. I can't think of any other reason why the windshield would be narrower.

Yea, i know what ya mean, I had to drill the rivets out that hold the bracket on the windshield and move them down so that they would work properly.

    Hope this helps,

i moved them down, thats not the problem..my windshield was also cut from the top..my front posts were cut on either side of the tilt out stud and the stud was relocated after the chop..once i put the new tilt out windshield brackets on the windshield they are just to far outside the tilt sliders and dont look workman like..kind of hacked in...not lined up with the stud..i will post some pics

Thirtycoupe is right. A 28-29 and a 30-31 windshield are the same except for the hinge brackets. If your windshield was off the car when you got it, it could be from the wrong year. It's hard to tell from the pics but the 30-31 bracket sticks out about 1/2 inch farther than the 28-29. You can buy these from Snyders if you need to change them.
