I have been around for a long time, and have meant to sign up on the board for years. I spend most of my time in the shop, but my latest ride is on the road now- leaving me more time for other things. I have lived in Maryville Tn, on the Wildwood side, most of my life. There are a lot of guys on here that know me or have seen me around. i run round with a lot of the Greazy Hubcaps. Darryl and Richard Payne, Ron and Dub Walker,Rich Drieling, Mark Mghee, Brian Bronkhorst, Jimmy Wilder, and the usual suspects from Maryvilleand east Tn. Glad to be here---- Kevin Norton
Welcome aboard and good write up in your profile...... Sure sounds like you know how to have fun.......... You'll fit right in here..............

I live off of Keeble RD. Between 13 curves, on 411 north, and the dragstrip. I used to got to the mall until the, thin air breathing- Smoky mountain streetrodders, took it over. They don't like my kind of cars, and I don't like them. So I guess we're even.
Welcome from a Maryville (in buford,ga.) transplant originally from a little comunity outside of maryville on 411 south by the name of Fairview. Worked at the dragstrip when it was first being built. Some of the names that i recall are Pinky Potter,Jack Kidd, David Hustetler(spl?)Steve & Phillip Hayes, Pee Jabber, Pete and Jerry Webb.
Pinky Potter was a good friend of my dads-Steve Norton. How about Ervil Headrick, James Robert"HONEY"Patterson. "BABE" Havens. Those are some people I know that were Maryville dragstrip guys. Which dragstrip are you talking about? 411 dragway is still open. Maryville dragstrip has been a private airport for years now.
I was talking about the maryville drag strip, moved down to the atlanta area in 1960 and have not been back up there in more than 15 years. Is Ervil Headricks, Charlie's son who had the concession stand when it first opened? Their was another Headricks that had the 411 motel. I'm pretty sure i remember your dad,What did he drive? Pinky had a nice 55 chev. David had a 59 348 4/speed impala. Jack Kidd had a real fast 56 210 black chev,(when ever there was a question about his engine he always had his brother sit on the hood, who was a great big guy)
My dad didn't run at Maryville, he was to young. Ervil Headrick ran a 56 ford with a 390. I have a picture of him at Maryville, with a 64 Thunderbolt named "STRIP TEASER" "IF SHES PAID SHE'LL GO" on it. The car was out of Georgia. Leonard Dailey had a red 56 ford post with a 390 and later a 69 SCJ Cobra. I will mention those names to the guys I know.
