Great thread! Next best thing to being there. If you are blessed with this p***ion, then you probably have a similar story/memory. Great friends, good times, HotRodz, and painted ladies... "Thank You God!"

Car shows are for the birds, road trips in old cars, and adventures like this are what it's all about. well done.

Glad to read that you got it sorted and had a ball to boot.
I spun number three big end bearing in the ute on the way to work yesterday. Unfortunately repairing it won't be such an adventure for me, but more of a big pain in the ****!
Penziol Racing 20W50 is no longer available in Oz. I shouldn't have used the **** Valvoline 20W50 that is available here at work. I'm fairly sure it was thinning out when it got hot. Dissasembley will reveal all.

My gut went tight when reading about the noise in the new start-up, man and I wasn't even there. That had to be freaky, but it taught you all some cool stuff about your products used and I am so impressed with the innards you chose. Couldn't have been more interesting and exciting as a priviledged observor, hats off to Vern, Keith, Joyo, Silva, , and all concerned. Record work time for the machine shop is a miracle. Thanx for sharing with us and best of luck with the mill. The picture of Joyo with the clown-like head face behind is priceless. Atta Boys!! ~sololobo~

those adjustable lifters did the same thing to me back in the 50's, took the adjustment bolts out and added thin lock nuts after the 3rd time.

I also had my adj. lifters back off ( the same lifters you bought after the same research) and I decided to try loc***e. Seems to have worked, out lasted the rest of the engine.

  19. Nothing better than a road trip with a couple of good mates, throw in a rebuild of a flatty at the flathead ranch and you've got the ultimate memory for a lifetime.

Just got home from a 12 hr. snow detail and had to read the latest installment of 'The Flathead Chronicles'. Great to see all is well under thehood of your fine machine. Time for some shuteye, Cat

  22. glad it all is working out
waiting for the disclaimer caption to the spray painting with open flame heat tho

set up.... for the pic ...... so we can see whats wrong.. right?

remember kids............ now don't ever spray paint in a enclosed room with an open flame ...
espiecally two guys directing the spray cans at each other without appropriate personal safety protection...

Danny - Is this the motor out of the car you sold Ryan? Don't mean anthing at all negative by the question, just wondering. If it is the same car, yea, I really believe that would have been a blast for you to be on that road trip too.

Ryan, glad to hear it all worked out ok. What kind of mufflers are you running? I think a little video with audio is in order.
