This is an open invite from The Lifers C.C. to all you Southeastern gearheads.
Like many of our landmarks today, one of our coolest Palm Beach County landmarks, The Rutledge Hotel is biting the dust in the name of "progress"...I don't know about you guys but a big friggen condo is NOT my idea of progress...
Anyway, The Lifers are slapping a little weekender together on short notice for those of you "car types" who appreciate the days of old. It's not a full-fledged car show weekender but it's gonna be fun!

    Here's the details:
    Saturday, April 30th
    Rutledge Inn
    3730 N. Ocean
    Singer Island, FL 33404
    1-800-348-7946 or rutinn@aol.com
Tell them you are with the "Car Show" for group discounts

    Tenative Schedule:

    Friday, April 29th
    Pre-Show Party
    8:00 pm - 11:00 pm
    Sun Hai Tokyo
    2534 PGA Blvd.
    Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410
    (6 miles from the hotel)

    Saturday, April 30th
10 am - Meet on the Beach Drag in Singer Island (e-mail me for a map)
1 pm - Invade the Rutledge Inn & check out the cars, the tiki bar and hit the beach
7 pm - Rusty's Bar - For good live music (bands to be announced) and cheap beer

    Sunday, May 1st
10 am - Breakfast Cruise to Jupiter, FL's own Dixie Cafe for a downhome greasy breakfast and say our goodbyes...

If you have any questions drop me an e-mail.... unpunk01@yahoo.com
AND BOOK YOUR HOTEL ROOMS NOW!!!!!

What shame to bid farewell to the Rutledge....I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for the heads up on the car show as that is only 15 minutes from my house.

    See you there

There are a lotta people have been booking their rooms this week (for Friday AND Saturday nights). I'm wondering if we need to line up other hotels for overflow...
If your planning on coming....speak up!

Sorry about that...I had no idea...if I officially invite your club will ya let me use the name this year? :) :) :)

Whoa....whoa....whoa...I didn't realize that Island Invasion was a "taken" name...I don't want to step on any toes so we are changing the name to "Singer Island Invasion" as to avoid any confusion.
I hope no one got confused between the Island Invasion happening in Canada and the Island Invasion put on by The Lifers in South Florida....I know Canada and Florida can be confusing but.....
Geez...good thing I didn't decide on "Hot Rod Sunday"!!!

Yeah....I can see how the two could be confused. But we are hosting the Singer Island Invasion...just to make things clear....don't want anyone getting confused and driving to South Florida instead of Canada. Whew...glad we avoided that situation! :)

Shiny...Dude...sorry about that. I had been drinkin' whisky all afternoon and I was being a ***hole. I apologize. I was a little upset because I now have to go back to the sponsors and tell them there has been a name change and they MAY have already began printing. I was just hoping to use it this year and change it next year...if there is a next year.
And to your point about using the name Billetproof (in your PM)...Billetproof is truly an orginal name. Island Invasion is not. Type is Billetproof on yahoo and see what comes up...all stuff about Billetproof. Type in Island Invasion and you get motorcycle shows, gay and lesbian events, pot smuggling newsletters, senior citizen cruises and no mention of your hot rod show. When I searched the internet to see if there was another show out there called Island Invasion...nothing of the sort came up except non-related events.
I don't want any problems. We'll change the name to The Lifers Singer Island Invasion...is that cool?

Okay, Boys and Girls...here is the final line up (in no certain order) for the show on Saturday night (April 30th) at Rusty's on Singer Island.

    The Delusionaires (Nad's band) - http://www.delusionaires.com/
    Reddy Teddy & the Duotones - http://thetbucketterrors.com/
    Slip & the Spinouts - http://www.geocities.com/slipandthecreepers/
    Wolfy Lonesome Trio -
    The Cavefish -
    The Dead Bombers - http://www.thedeadbombers.com/page_1.htm

We might be adding one more band but I am concerned about the size of the venue being too small. More info to follow...

Why can't you get a good blow job in Canada?
Cuz all those ********ers are down here in Florida!

*joking* Actually, my buddy from New York told me that about New Yorkers...

Aaahhh....now that I'm sober and had a chance to cool down I understand and respect where their gripe. I'm over it...I got too many things to worry about with this show to worry about something like that...

  24. Heh, I remember going to some of those. You need to move back here and organize some damn shows for us.;)

No ****...that's cool. I miss those days. I just found a bunch of video tape I shot back then at Sugarhill and I also did the shows up at the Oakhurst Community Center.
I found footage of The Anti Heros, Less than Jake, Blink (opening the shows!), Fifteen, Guttermouth, Face to Face, Swingin Utters, Rancid, Voodoo Glow Skulls...there was a BUNCH of **** on there! There was a clip of Allen Peterson jumping the gap (the entrance to the park) coming down, hittin' the flattop and jumping so high he hit (and broke) the flourecent lights! Those were fun times!
Spent...it just takes motivation...you should start putting on shows! I guess you could say...that I'm back in the business!

Here's the flyer...if you need a cleaner copy, PM me your e-mail and I will send you one!

  28. I remember the Community Center shows as well, I went to H.S. in Oakhurst [I remember when Blink opened. Thought they ****ed then, too.:D ]. Brings back memories. We actually had a pretty good scene around here then; I didn't realize you had so much to do with that.

As for me organizing shows, well, after I overcome the hurdle of actually having something worth driving to one, then maybe I'll think about it. Would be nice to have a decent show around here though.

It was a good time! Actually, I didn't do ALL the shows at the Community Center...that's when I was booking and managing Stinkaholic and they were doing shows there before I took it over. You're right...those were some good times! Back when Rob Aston (lead singer of Transplants) was doing security at my shows! Wow...have things changed.

  30. Hehe... Stinkaholic, haven't thought about those guys for awhile. I didn't realize you managed them. T.J.'s [their first b*** player] brother was the first person I met when I moved up there. Given your record of organizing shows the Invasion should be a success.
