Do these front quarters look like a 1936 version or 1937? The other side is pretty rusted out and if they are main stream Ford I would be much better off replacing than trying to repair. They are on a 1947 Ford Pilot. Many of the other parts on this vehicle seem to be '36 US Ford stuff but these seem a little off for '36. The Pilot was the first 'large' car Ford made, in England, after WWII. I am guessing that parts were still few and far between and they just used what they either had in stock from prewar, or they bought them from Ford US.
the car has a similar design typ of fords, but they do not interchange, but a pilot can be a cool car with a newer 4cyl engines
Pilot is not '36 or '37 USA Ford based...it is based on the prewar Ford Model 62, a Ford of England model sold all over Europe as Ford or Matford with V860. It got the bigger 221 engine for military use, then that version became the Pilot after WWII. Interchange would be only with these Ford and Matford models, I think.
Wow Bruce, what a ton of information in a few sentences! I guess I had just been too lucky in the past. Rear fenders from a US '36 were a perfect match, firewall from a US '36 was identical (with the obvious exception of LHD/RHD) and '36 repop rockers were great fit. Looks like my luck has run the course and I'll be forced to try and do metal work. Damn!
Quite a few Pilots have been fitted with '36 front sheet metal over the years. Don't know how much work is involved, but they look a LOT better! Street Rodder even ran a four pack feature on four from England years back.
