I've got a cheapo stud gun from Harbor Fright, but the puller is junk, is there anyplace you can get just the puller? This one has a serrated wheel that's worn out and it's junk anyway, the gun works well for being all of $100. Thanks in advance.
Oreilly auto parts carries a full line of body shop tools and supplies. If they don't have it in your local store, they can get it. Ask them for their bodyshop supply catalog.
no need to throw the old puller away. cut the weak *** head off of it. pull the bolt out of the back of a nice pair of ''vice grips'' not the cheap ones. and weld the bolt to the puller. screw the grips in, and you're done. they work great and can now be adjusted to all kinds of pulling needs. mine work great.
I bought mine from sears, craftsman name, so if it goes to hell they replace it, I guess Ace hardware and a few other places are now carrying the craftsman brand and honoring the warranty on them too...
Explain this one please as faras I can gather a morgan knocker is a body work slide hammer. I thought you would need one of these above or the locking nut technique? unless you need to knock out a wheel stud, heat and a FBH works well with those.
http://autobodystore.net/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=HS1016&Category_Code=2SW is one to look at. Check at your local full service paint and body shop supply house to see what they have also. I missed a name brand whole setup the other day by not getting to the pawn shop that had it for sale at a cheap price quick enough.
I've heard the HF puller was junk as wwell as the studs...for $215 the unispotter starter kit doesn't look so bad, unless maybe you can get HF to take 20% off the discounted $99 price. Sometimes they will , sometimes they won't. I've been waiting for an excuse to get the HF one, but I'd really like that unispotter.
I got one from my Matco guy after having the same issue with the HF puller. The Matco one uses a drill chuck-like end to grab the stud. It was about $100 by itself, but way easier to use than the HF junk.
