eggplant purple ,, just to be different from all the other people ...way too many cars painted the same way .. its a shame when a nice clean hot-rod just sort of "blends" from one to another and gets lost in there sameness ...........
kind of like living in track homes and you can't find your own house because they all look a like and yours is somewhere s in the middle ..

Black means you are a dummy, and love to wash, wax and detail your car !!

    I have owned B L A C K 32 Fords, 40 Fords, 55 Chevys, Camaros, Chevelles, El Caminos, Blazers, F-100's and a bunch of late model ( at the time ) Chevy Silverados. The vast majority of my vehicles have been B L A C K or I changed their color to B L A C K . :( shortly after I bought them.

    At 62 ... I am over B L A C K :)

My next project will NOT be B L A C K . I have not totally decided on a color but it might be red, green or blue.

  3. Deuce, you took the words right out of my mouth ! The only thing my black car says to me most of the time is " HEY, I see you got some free time there, I need to be washed AGAIN" Mitch.

If I take this one to a cruise, I usually get the pinky up sign with "Like your car............."

That's cool, because your wife LOVES IT!

    Someone said paint?

Look what just showed up here yesterday....a heaping truck load ...and some more coming I guess..

PPG and Ditzler... Laquer, Acry Enamel, and Urethane mixing toners, reducers, flattening agents, poly flakes, Vinyl toners?, etc, etc, etc. ...plus many factory mixed quarts of enamel and laquer and some gallons, like 3 matching gallons of Ford Poppy Red Laquer..

...sad thing is my current project is so beat up, I doubt it will ever be straight enough for light gray primer:(

No breaks given here. Black seems to be a fall back color when you are trying to look tough.

That's fine if you like black. My hearse is black. I couldn't care less. I'm just saying anyone can pull off black on anything. It's like saying "Well I could go white on this car, but I don't know. Ahh hell, let's paint it black."

I never thought I would make an argument for a pink hot rod, but this one works for me.

Paint it whatever color you like it's your car,and you can't deny that this car doesn't have a cool sinister look about it, black is best but very high maintainance

A friend of mine says: " There is only two colors for a street rod, black and ugly."

Lack of paint on mine says I can't afford paint right now. When I get around to it, plans are for 06 GTO Brazen Orange Metallic. I just like this color. Other O/T cars I've owned and painted in the past have been Grabber Blue. The color was a mistake at first, but I grew to like it. That was back in the mid-late Eighties when brighter colors were more "in".

  25. How did ya score all that paint?

  26. It says I don't like to wash and polish cars that much.

  27. I love black so I painted mine,

Anything other than black or red. If you have seen one black hot rod you seen a thousand more just like it, almost the same for red.

Color should enhance the lines of a car and compliment it's style. Lighter colors can add length in silohette (like the yellow and white Merc posted). Darker colors can add mass so they always look good on hiboy coupes and roadsters. Kandy colors display craftsmanship and should be used to accent extensive body mods. Perfect black can add lines and highlights that normally go unseen. In the end, the color will make or break any car's 1st impression.
