I would like to try out photshop but don't have the money to buy the software. I see there are some free downloads for the earlier versions like 2.0 and maybe later versions. Do any of you guys have a reputable link to download a useable version of photshop? Thanks Chris
I don't remember Adobe ever doing that or providing a demo. Try Macromedia Fireworks or the Studio MX combo pack instead. It's a helluva lot easier for beginners.
Here you go: http://www.adobe.com/products/tryadobe/main.jsp#product=40 Try the Photoshop Elements one. It has all the fun parts of Photoshop without the technical/commercial stuff.
fireworks is where its at.i like using that to photoshop..alot of my photoshop plugins work with firewroks also..its also a good alternative to paintshop too
I checked out fireworks and they want $300 for it. I just want something I can play around with and do some cool stuff at a reasonable price. The only thing I have on my computer is paint and my 5 yr old plays with that.
download their 30day trial..its full functioning..the photoshop trials ive had wont let you save anything
What about GIMP, the open source photoshop clone? You would need to install some libraries to use it, but you can't beat the price. http://www.gimp.org/ http://www.gimp.org/screenshots/ Negatives: The library installation No TIFF capabilities I don't think it uses photoshop plugins. (You might need to find GIMP plugins if your work requires plugins.) I'm no graphic arts guy, but I have worked with both. I've done a little work with GIMP, and a fair bit with photoshop. With my limited skills, they seemed basically the same.
Free would be nice, but I know what you get for free these days. What about officemax or one of them type stores. Would they have anything decent for under $50. It's not like I'm a total cheap ass I would just rather spend the money on new plug wires or sumpin' to that effect.
I use Paint Shop Pro (http://www.jasc.com). At $95 it's somewhere between GIMP (which I like and use at work 'cause Harley is all about cheap, open source, software) and Photo Shop/Fireworks/Painter/the rest of 'em that cost an arm and a leg. I've used PSP for about eight years or so and it accepts PS plug-ins, so I can do 99% of what a "real" graphics guy can do in PS, but not spend anywhere near what they do (of course, it's usually someone's company that buys the software, so it's Other People's Money).
I got Photoshop 6.0 for $120 on eBay. There is a company ( Adobe24 ) that buys the CDs that come in bundled software in sealed paper cover and sell it cheap with good serial numbers. Down side- no book but ya can get one cheap used on Amazon. I spent a total of about $160 and the software is freakin' amazing. I use it to edit photos of cars and use it for my graffic design stuff. Just go to the computer section on eBay
I use Paint Shop Pro also. I've been using it for about 4 years now. Mine came with Animation Shop also which is pretty cool. A lot of bang for the buck.
If you know anyone in college or that works for a school, etc you can get it cheaper about 100 bucks last time i looked. Its a full version only difference is it might say "education eddition" when it loads but who cares!
if your gonna pay, www.journeyed.com sells full version software at cheaper prices. All you have to do is fax them a student ID. Photoshop =$ 300 fireworks = $ 99 In addition to GIMP, There is also Picasa which is free. http://www.picasa.com
Much generous you are young Skywalker. Seriously though that would be great. I of course would not bind you to any agreement since we have never even met. I will PM you with my address and if you get around to it w/o putting yourself out it would be greatly appreciated. I will try and come up with some type of compensation. Thanks Chris
Back to Photoshop Elements... keep an eye out at CompUSA.com (and their "real" stores). Every once in a while, they will have this available for around $30 after mail-in rebates. SOme better scanners come with a full copy of this, too, so if you are thinking about a new scanner... I have never used GIMP, but heard lots of good stuff about it.
Sure you can. You can try out Photoshop for 30 days from www.adobe.com http://www.adobe.com/products/tryadobe/main.jsp
Picasa will NOT do anything near what photoshop/psp/gimp will do. It's nice for a quick highlight, a nice redeye redux, and croping shit, but it's not photoshop. anyway, i say if you can't sucker your work to buy photoshop, go with GIMP. It works for what most people want.
