"look at my new bike, isn't it a cool bike? bet you'd like to ride it wouldn't you?" "Yeah Tommy! please!!" "nope! just wanted you to see it"
Povertyflats, he is a friend of my dad's and was ok with me taking the pictures and is aware that I was informing friends about these cars. I have not posted the location of the cars and yes has had alot of stuff stolen. I am to see him during xmas and deal on some cars. His brother told me just 4 days ago that he would sell, but they needed to bring lots of money, lol. I have not talked to the sister, but her stuff is not for sale.
great collection, but what are they good for if left to rot outside? I hear that part of the world does no have mild Winters. But, each to their own ways. know a guy in Calif with about 300 cars/trucks. Some concourse condition and some rust buckets. got in trouble with law for improper storage, so sold a bunch and then just bought a bunch more. right or wrong Thanks for posting pics
I guess it is fun for him to know that he owns 800 cars and if and when he decides to retire he can have a crusher come in and become very rich with no h***les. May not be what we think is cool but is a very good retirement plan as compared to the stock market.
I thought it was quite obvious. The owner of the cars says something is for sale, then it is not, then he'll think about it! Read all the posts! Now what a great collection if it wasn't for people like the owners of this collection alot of those cars would have been crushed years ago so I ain't going to bad mouth the owner. WB69, I hope you are able to purchase what you are chasing, good luck!
looks like quite a collection. i hope that 57 olds ends up back on the road. great looking car. that desoto grille looks pretty nice also. thanks for sharing the pics.
I read about collections like this all the time being sold for JUNK.After so many years outside, that's all they are. Finally have to auction it off and a s****per comes in and leaves a floor price of about $150 per unit. If they sold now or a few years back, may have been something salvageable.
There's an 80-yr-old man ten miles from me who does the same thing. He has a dealer's license, brings in cars and lines them up. He will not sell any parts for exactly the same reason you mention: it's not a salvage yard, it's a car lot. He sells only complete cars. Now, if you just want a few parts and leave the car, that's fine with him, but you have to pay for the whole car.
I have my hands full with my project..thanks for posting the pictures. It is always nice to that some of the cl***ic old cars are still out there. That 57 Olds is a beauty I hope it get revived.
i wouldn't wanna mess with obtaining anything from that collection, but i would really like to photograph it in medium format, old expired color film, and redscale negative film....that'd be all for me
I've seen stuff restored that would make you **** yourself, then. The only way to deal with a guy like this is to bring money and make the deal on the spot when he's willing to deal. Some of our cars came out of a yard like that, after the guy went in a home. That can be beneficial too, if you have the space and the hauler sometimes you can buy from the s****pers for double s**** price and still get a good deal, but you need to be prepared to spend a couple weeks doing nothing but buying and hauling cars.
I'd love to go look around there! Be nice to see complete cars and not rusty, shot up hulks for once.
