There is one sitting in my neighbors backyard and it got me to thinking(like most of us do). What would that body style look like if done properly in an early 40's style custom treatment? I know I could buy this car real cheap someday. The body is real straight. Missing decklid and front sheet metal. Does anybody have pictures for one that is done right? Let's see what you got.
How bout this one? There are others on carnut.com in the Index under 36 chevy....not old style though. Have modern wheels and such, but food for thought. http://www.carnut.com/photo/list/chev/chev36/c363w.html (This takes you right to the 36 page)
Harry Westergard built this 1937 Chevy Coupe for Leroy Semas... I know its not the same year... but you can see that this body style will addapt very good to a 1940's styled custom car. Get a nice Caddy/LaSalle or Packard grille and the proper stance and your on the right track... I say go for it.
Here's a 36 Pontiac I saw at Torque Fest. It was awesome! I also through in a pic of my 36. (I'm tempted to re-do it as a custom!)
ewt2, That coupe of yours is awesome from the side profile. A few more pictures would be great. How hard is it to find a decklid and front sheetmetal? What are those parts going for if I find them?
I really like the chrome headlights on your 36. I am looking for a pair for my 36. did they come with it or did you get them somewhere?
Thanks Guy's! I bought mine with 74k miles on it 14 years ago. In 1966 it got an oil change, ( There is a sticker in the door jamb) it had 73k! The body has no rust, and I haven't touched it. I did add a 396 Chevy with dual carbs,a 700r, Ford 9, Heidts, with dics all around. The headlights were chrome originally. For parts try this site. It's pretty good... I'll try to dig up some more pix... Thanks, Ed http://www.restored-classic.com/chevy/1936.html
Here's the one that i just let go.enjoyed it for years. now the next guy can enjoy. Came real close to making a gasser out of it
would like to put this back at the top for more pictures of 36 chevys. my dad is starting on one to make a custom out of...jones
Those are some gorgeous coupes fellas! I hope mine looks anywhere near that good someday. I'm planning to run a 235 and stock artillery wheels, possibly in an early custom style. I really like that Westergard custom, it gives me some great ideas!
Check this out. . . This father and son did it right (fallow the link for the full story) http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2639507/1936-chevrolet-master-deluxe
I have a 36 pontiac as well but a 4 door. Plans for it is to build a coupe from it. The chevys have much the same lines so going to keep a eye to this post for ideas. Most of what I find in pictures are street rod. Any rear shots of the 36 Pontiac that was posted?
I have a rough 36 3 window master deluxe like the top picture with the flames. Trying to get a good home for it so I can find my project car. Pm me if you know someone who is looking. You can text or call 530 310 9051
