If you are talking about the car in your avitar, don't put any phony graphics on it. The wheels, moon tank and scallops say plenty. It's a great looking roadster. Don't screw it up. This was about as "racey" as a street roadster ever was, and all I ever ran on it was a shoe polish number put on it at the races.

Ok,Im over that,so what about anything else that could help the traditional race look I am trying to find,or did I already find it,and I should stop changing the car?

Has the car got a quick change rearend? That always helps the "race look". Got room for a nice chrome roll bar under the top?

I wish I did have room for a chrome rollbar, that would complete the look.

A good coating of alkali dust usually does it for me.

Personally I liked your car without the scallops. A set of bias (WW and/or blackwall) and red steelies would be fun for a change too.

    hotrodroadster32,
The roadster in your atavar looks nice.
Maybe a roll bar and/or a hood strap could contribute to a racier look if that's what you want.
Here's mine, just to illustrate. (I know mine's a bit on the ratty side.... it's a work in progress.)

Throw some pie-crust slicks on the back and you're done.

    Ditto.

Also, maybe some skinnier front tires too.

  14. How about some old aviation seat belts to give it a post war look.

How about a 10 sec 1/4 mi. small block. Always fun to cruise downtown with!

My Roadster has some race car influences.

What I'd do on the car in your Avatar, is get rid of the scallops ( they look too '80s street rod to me ), and use some performance parts of whatever period you choose.

I really like that rollbar you added. Not trying to be the tradional police here, but do you have any pics to back it up as a trad piece? I want to build a trad roadster in the future, but really want a rollbar.

Rollbars like this were very common on hot rods that were raced back in the day. Often the roll bar height was lower on street cars, and was often a hoop only with no supports. Mine's a 6 point. If you look closely you can see the supports on the side of the frame rails. Old Hot Rod mags are a good source for inspiration. Here's a few pics.

I'm just thinking of something simple, like B/STR somewhere on the front of the body, and I was toying with a push bar or something like that,I wasnt going to change the hole car around.

Skip the lettering . . . add Radir cheaters, a chrome hoop rollbar . . . and done.

Or just do what YOU want to the car instead of polling the HAMB for every change you are thinking of making to the car.
