Im just looking for a good shop that can rebuild my original 1961 Cadillac Hydramatic transmission. I heard that these are a little tricky to rebuild so looking for the best person and if it's worth it or to go with an adapter. I have seen a post in the past about a place near Canton that does these but can't find the info. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Ted
Ron Coffey used to work on old automatics and was one of the best. His shop was in an aircraft hanger at the private airport north of Saginaw ( I think its called Hooks field). I am not sure if he is still in business and I cannot find his number. Sorry I cannot be more help. I will look at home this weekend for his number. Another place that might help you is AAAA Transmissions. Talk to Gary Bernard. He is a Model a guy and works on some of the old stuff. 817-624-1441
Phoenix in Weatherford is a good performance transmission shop. I don't know if they can handle "older" stuff or not. They're not exactly bargain basement either. Larry T
You might give Ken Hammond a call. They sell trannys at all the local swap meets. They rebuilt the 700r4 in my truck and a buddies th400. Good price and good warranty. http://www.hammondtransmission.com/index.html
