    WOW! Totally cool!!!

This all should be posted on the main HAMB Message Board so nobody misses it

  2. You're probably right...this original thread I started back in Oct just as I made a deal to buy her and I completely forgot to update it...until the other day.
When I get time this wknd,I'll post a full thread there...thanks for the suggestion.

Going to look at a trailer today...starting the process to bring Ingenue out to the people rather than just sit in my garage.;)

    Hey John,

I've been trying to track down Steve Malise. Any clue? Did he move to Miami?

Your dad will remember me from the fire at Mid County when we were building a funny car and dragster, both Buick powered. Fond memories.

How's Jerry? Tell him I said Hi.

    Please respond by PM.

    Jack

This October Steve Malise will be inducted into the East Coast Drag Times Hall of Fame
in Henderson N.C. As well as the H.O.F. induction ceremony on Sunday there is a very
big Car Show in downtown Henderson where all of the Streets are blocked with several
hundred cars. They have Bands and entertainment but the real deal is the Nostalgia
Race Cars with a lot of History are on display. I hope that the Buick will be there as well.
It is a three day weekend, Fri,Sat and Sunday. The Car Show is all day Saturday

  10. Yes you were correct,Steve was inducted in the ECDT hall of fame and yes,we did drag Ingenue to NC from CA and were greeted very warmly by everyone involved including Nancy Wilson who puts on a great show supported by some very famous drag racers from the glory days.
Add to that some 4,000+ carshow and you get the idea...!

Sorry I haven't updated this thread in quite awhile,I will attempt to do that now.

After the event,we stopped at Steve's home in VA and I gathered some more rare pictures he had as well as pictures of dad's last AA/GD he built that is still hanging up in his shop.I got real excited seeing those and I may in fact decide to restore that car first before Ingenue...just because dad says it can't be done, lol.

    Anyhow's,enough talk...here's some pictures:

Here's Ingenue in the trailer @ Steve's home:

  11. Here's a picture Steve Strope sent me,note the red coated headers and dig those crazy pants, lol:

Here's a project Steve is working on,a Ingenue street car recreation that was mentioned recently in Hot Rod and will be covered by them throughout the build...Steve has owned this car for years:

Here's a picture I found at Steve's house, this is perhaps the very first time the car was tested, this was at Englishtown around early April/March '67:

    Some real early digger pics,circa 1964,Steve's in the ****pit and dad's the tall guy,this one's 440 wedge-powered with an 8-71 blower...in 1964!:

I had a 67 Skylark when I was about 20. I loved that car... At least thats what my girlfriend said:rolleyes:

    Very cool... subscribed.

  17. It's good to see you finally made it over here. I'm at work right now, and our IT guys have made to where I get the dreaded Red X instead of the latest pictures you posted. There are lots of guys here on the site (like me) who really love nostalgic race cars, and your Funny Car and Dragster will generate a lot of interest, for sure.

  18. Hey thanks Alex, and everyone else...I forgot to update this thread and since I've already started one in the general discussion,I'll juts update that one and let this one die off...so thanks again for all the kind words and follow along on the other thread for the latest updates on Ingenue...the World's only Buick-powered Buick funny car!;)

    Thanks,
    John

I saw the Pellegrini Buick run at Alton dragway in 67 or 68 and it was a neat looking car! So I know your Dad's car has to be a great car!

  21. Hey thanks,I email Ron all the time,he saw the interview I did on Inside Drag Racing w/Ingenue in NC,that aired on 12/5 and can also be viewed on www.insidedragracingtv.com I do believe...just click on the Henderson,NC event.

Keep in mind Ron's car was Chrysler Hemi powered with a 6-71 and a wide rollcage,he also ran 5-lug crager wheels in front.

Dad's car was powered by a 8-71 blown 430 Buick featuring a dry-sump oiling system (unheard of in drag racing at the time) with a TH400 trans and Wildcat rear w/2.90 gears. This car features spindle-mount AR 5-spoke wheels and in fact, the front tires are original to the car...

The car was very state-of-the-art in it's day, especially if you consider all the custom-made one-off speed parts that had to be fabricated.

John!! My editor is freaking out about your car. The story should be out in the March issue i believe! The shoot came out really good, and the pictures are amazing. Very photogenic car i must say!
It'll be a blast to have it at NCKO!!

  27. That's great to hear Hank,I must say all the photos I've seen so far have been STUNNING...easily on par with the great Wes Allison who shot the car for HRM with his multi-zillion dollar gear...if not better!

I can't wait to see them all after the magazine is published,my dad hasn't seen the sneak preview you sent me yet so I think he'll be quite honored and proud to see Ingenue in print...when you said HRM didn't do the car justice you were right...you did us proud Hank! :D
