Try to get onto Drake's mailing list. They have 3 or 4 specials per year with a minimum of 10% discount and often more than that.
hemifarris is right. They currently have an end-of-year sale with 10% off all items in stock plus free shipping on orders over $1000 and this ends on 31st December. They send me emails when their sales are on. swifty
I buy a lot from Drake when he's at shows, his shipping is high, so that's why I catch him at shows. You can call him ahead and have him bring certain stuff with him for you
Not sure about Drake selling a lot of ChiCom stuff. I've been pretty happy with his products. Now Danjunk thats a different story.
I bought both my '40 grilles from All Ford Parts. They had Bob Drake grilles for $100 less than Bob Drake sells them. allfordparts.com
Not an Alliance member, but a H.A.M.B. member. I carry Bob Drake items. I am still one of the small guys, so my inventory is continuing to grow constantly. Located in southern California (Inland Empire). Our website can be found through our home page here. Happy Holidays!!
I was interested in some trunk hinges that they sell----so I ask them if they were made in USA . They sent this reply . We manufacture most of our parts in Taiwan.
Tried that but he only had a small portion of my shopping list. He did ship the rest out later with no shipping costs.
Drake makes decent stuff, but his service is lousy. Dealers like All Ford, or Sacramento Vintage Ford get my business. (and their prices are better too)
Finally got 2 sets of Drake '39 Ford brake/clutch pedal ***embly's from a dealer for $20 less.....................
Everything I have ever gotten that was a Dob Drake product has been fantastic. I need a 34 Car grill, but damn......thats expensive!
I have bought from Drake for over 30 years and I have never been disappointed with his products or his service. There is a difference in quality between Taiwan and the Republic of China.
thing is...when a company is considering having parts made in Taiwan, China, etc - they generally spec it out to the potential manufacturers. Those mfrs make a few samples based on the specs and send it back. US Company decides whether the quality is up to the standards they expect (high or low) and either tell the Asian outfit to buy some decent micrometers and lathes/milling machines, or they accept what is sent and hope you will too. Friend of mine went through this process several years ago. He's a machinist at heart (and an excellent one) and he just kept hammering at the far east mfrs until they got the tolerances to where those pieces would fit the pieces made here the way they should. So not all parts made in Taiwan or anywhere 'over there' are bad - the US Company doesn't have to accept shoddy stuff if they're concerned about their reputation. dj
I was buying from drake when they were still in calif. and alway had much respect. the last 5+ years I've several issues. kind of embarr***ed a few year ago at Portland Swap Meet. Drake and Carpenter had booths side by side I went to the Carpenter Booth to tell them I was buying all my Ford products from them. even though Drake was right down the road from me. Carpenter told me they made most of Drakes rubber products
All Ford Parts doesn't have a website ... nor are they HAMB Alliance vendors ... but here's their contact info: All Ford Parts / The 34 Store 1600 Dell Ave Suite A Campbell, CA 95008 (408) 378-1935 Bill Perry and his staff have always treated me fair.
