I had one of these invoices exactly like this one that i have been looking for to post on here ever since i joined the Jr stock thread. I know I saved it (somewhere) but for the life of me I cant find it. It was dated in April 66 , just 2 months prior to this one.
My invoice total was $850.00!! That was the total charge for "Jiggs" building me my 327/250 motor for my 64 Chevelle SS for F/S. That "exhorbitant" fee included Forgedtrue/dykes, crank clearance and polish, Tony Pizzi prepared heads(Tony was working for/with him at the time) and GK "cheater"cam degreed in at -4. That shop in Berwyn was in the rear of a Sunoco gas station! He had the infamous 666 Nova sitting in one of the bays with the valve covers off the day I went to pick up my motor. I remember that day well because it was the first time that i had ever seen a set of "gold" rocker arms! (Crane). LOL. Those were the days - eh?? LOL

That would be cool if you could find it, post it up..probably a lot more detailed description on it than this one....wonder if the Sunoco is still there.
Stories like yours remind me of similar scenarios I experienced in the 60's and 70's when I was involved with drag racing and powerboat racing...crossed paths with a lot of cool people and saw a lot of neat machinery, but never thought to carry a damn camera with me in those days...I think when you're young you think it's gonna be like that forever... so I'm left with very little tangible evidence that I was there but lots of good memories.

    Tweed,

Tony's brother Jim, who makes an appearance here on occasion, told me that he worked at the gas station when he was a kid. One Saturday night a customer wanted a qt. of oil so he walked in the back and turned on a light. He said he heard a gruff voice coming from the back seat of the Black Arrow saying "Hey kid, turn off the light."

Years 'n years ago, I bought a black "Jenkins Competition" T-shirt from him at The Grandnationals @ Sanair...my pride 'n joy! Later that year at a race, a drunken "friend" took a shine to the shirt...

"Gimme that shirt!", he snarled in his best Bill Jenkins impersonation, as he literally ripped it off my body before I knew what was happening...

The next year @ National Trail, I ran into the Grump on his pitbike, leaving someone else's pit. "Got any shirts with ya?", I asked.

"Go to the trailer!" , he growled. So I did...and yes, although kinda threadbare, I've still got it...

    Happy Birthday, "Mr. Congeniality!"

  23. Does anyone have a very good, clear color photo of Dave Strickler's '68 (when white) or the '69 Camaro's door lettering? Mike Strickler needs this for a project he is working on.

FYI, there is another "Old Reliable" Camaro coming and there will be a Strickler shifting a 4-speed!!!

BTT for a good cause people.

Good luck in your search as I know you'll need it, quality color photos of either one of these cars is hard to come by. Have you checked with Les Welch? I believe he has a shot of the '69 car. John Durand may also have something.
Im looking forward to seeing the finished product.
