What year did Chevy pickups get AIR pumps?

In California?
In 48 state vehicles?
Any CA Smog Certified tuneup guys on here?

 

i believe 72 in california. 73 in the rest of the country....could be wrong.

 

The first year they got them was the first year to remove them.

cars got 'em in '68 here in Wisconsin

 

I think here too, but trucks were later, but I don't remember how much later.

My Hollander Interchange has a listings for air pumps on '66 and newer Chevrolet, GMC and Ford trucks. For some reason, Dodge only goes back to '72. As a footnote, the interchange states the listings are for California spec cars and trucks.

depends on the GVW of the truck as I recall

My 73 chev 3/4 ton did not have a air pump.... I bought the truck new in Phoenix at Lou Grubb chevy.

the 1/2 ton trucks had air pumps, that is main reason I bought a 3/4 ton.

Remember the "Heavy half" trucks? they were 5/8 ton and most states did not require all of the same smog equip as lighter rated ch***is trucks
