I've been wondering this for a while...does anyone know details on the Isky T frame, specifically the rear suspension set up. Does it have a kick-up in the rear? I'm trying to figure out how to get this look. Most the T's I see have the Z'd frame in the rear, and when using a turtle deck it changes the lines of the car alot, and also doesn't seem to work with the trim panels below the deck. Is it just the the turtle deck is placed lower then cut to clear the rear end, or is it because how far back the tires are placed?
Mine has the turtle deck mounted in the stock position. I use a model A spring over mount and a 41 for spring. I have a spacer to raise the rear up. I notched the deck to clear the spring. The frame is z'd. You could get a lower stance with a spring behind, reversed eyes, and a dearched spring. Mutt
Isky put the rearend further back, plus he cut down the rear of the body a couple of inches above the seat. That's why his 't' looks so unique. Quite possibly the best looking 't' ever built! IMHO -stick P.S. he carved the skull radiator cap in high school in the 30's (pre Kustom Kulture)
In the 93' Rod and custom article all it really says is "Ed mounted the '32 rear "backwards"(spring in front), with aircraft shocks." It also says he cut down the back of the body down 3". In the 48' hot rod it says the same thing about the rear suspension. "rear suspension is '32 Ford with housing reversed (placing spring ahead of axle loerin the car a few inches)". Doesn't say anything about being Z'd...just that it was on es*** rails. A good book to study for pictures is "Hot rod Milestones". Killer car...I can't get enough of it. Johnny
You can call Ed and ask him....he's at the shop most week days after 2:00 He is a really good guy always ready to talk
I was at Barnes and Noble today looking at their hot rod books and came across some great pictures of his car. If you call him, ask him why he set the steering wheel so far back? What a cool shot this is.
Thanks for all your help and for the photos. I'm surprised that I don't see more T's done up like his. Is Ed still in SD?
