First post. Please be gentle! This auto is very cool looking.I am not versed in this era(it may be common as dirt).Stricktly a body(probobly a toss away from the car that got restored)No floor.Front fenders are in the dirt nearby. I have a leftover pontiac drivetrain, and enough junk laying around to cobble together something.I just have to assess if i have the ambition! Merry christmas! Speak slowly and in great detail.Im a bit tarded.Which of the many icons would i use for attaching pictures? Can i upload to this site,or do i have to use photobucket? Thanks
If you are serious, and correct,i assume i wouldn't be able to ever reasonably find any more body parts? There is enough there to template whats horribly damaged.Should i find something a little more common?I would rather build my tube frame and related suspension than get quagmired in trying to make a useable shell.Conversely if its an oddball perhaps no one builds these and i can find all sorts of parts?
Talk to The Rabid Whippet, he is building a pretty sick 29 Whippet! He probably has tons of information for ya! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/member.php?u=18904 If your concerned about finding parts for it, are you restoring it, or are you gonna build a "Hot Rod"!
I harbor no illusions about what it takes to restore. It would be a heavily cut up barely recognizable street weapon. My desire is a full caged ,high horsepower, safe to crash,do everything hot rod.I think a car should be driven if it has no historical signifigance and this heap has no chance without me.Narrow tired front ends look kool, but will not accomplish what i intend to do with the car.It must corner which means it must survive a mishap(reality bites, sooner or later i will lose one of my cars). My friends are constantly building frames and roll cages for our wheelers,so i will definately go full tube.Ive never seen a build like whats going on in my head, but early flat trackers are in the right direction.Im a cheap bastard so everything would be home fabbed. Thanks lowfat for the i.d. and pics!
