I'm building a 1946 ford pickup and was thinking about using a chevy s-10 ch***is I was was wondering what year s-10 ch***is would be best for my build or should I just keep the stock frame and put a mustang 2 front suspension on it?
S10 is supposed to be a bit of a critter when it comes to finding a rack to match the original inner pivot locations of the stock S10. I think someone is making a Cav conversion or the like to get the pivots in close. What did you use? Wait a sec...a brain cell just twitched...and died. You used an S10...under what!?!? Thats terrible. What a waste of a good S10. You should have left one of those nasty 'ol dropped axles under there and saved the S10 for something nicer. JASON...did you see the huge thread thats going on S10 frame conversions? You'll find any info you need and even a lot you don't!!!
Keep the '46 frame. It has the serial number which is not anywhere on the cab and will help with ***le/registration issues. It's a straight ladder type frame, Ch***is Engineering has everything you need to mount any drivetrain you want. Keep the beam axle if you want to be more traditional (beam axles drive good if the king pins and bushings are not worn out and if they are correctly aligned), or look at what's under an '80s Ford Aerostar van if you want IFS.
