I'm thinking about heading out this week end and wanted to make sure it's worth the drive. I grew up going to the Oakland show and what I've heard about Portland is pretty good. Experiences? Opinions?

If you're into car shows, it's as good as any - always has the latest from Donn Lowe, Steves, etc...I go every other year or so, just to get a midwinter fix, and do some hobb********...I'm not much on shows, but it's a fun social event - even got a job there once.......

The Seattle Roadster show is this weekend as well. Pretty stupid planning if you ask me. I will be at the Seattle show.

I'm running down to Portland to see the grand kids. I think we will sneak out to see it then check out the seattle one on the way home on Sunday...
The cool thing about the Portland show is it's all volunteer and run alot smoother than the guys in tuxedoes

At least you get your moneys worth at the Roadster show. Not like the Rod & Custom where out of 300 entrees 50 of them are bikes and another 50 imports.

It is planned that way as an attempt to kill the PRS, and hurt the MHRC. PRS is always worth your support as its always welcomed the little guys as well as the gold chainers. my 2 cents.........

  7. Gonna be pretty hard to KILL the PRS, as it has the best of the best and the best of the home built cars there...like you said...room for the little guy. It has been sort of a tradition in my family that started with my dad and I back in 1959 when we went there for the first time...and, after his p***ing, my son took his place in line and so now he and I go. I think I have missed 4 or 5 shows in that time span. It has a mystique all its own that comes from the tradition and the rich history of the northwest hot rod scene. The Portland Roadster Show is, in my book, the best northwest car show....PERIOD! Seattle show is all about promotion....Portland Roadster show is all about yer gut...and keeping the tradition alive.

I went yesterday and it was a good show. 4 hour drive, got the flu -still worth it. There were some cars I could have gone without seeing, but hey it wouldn't be a good show if there weren't. I'll be there next time.
