Event Coverage Austin Swap Meet 2011

I started wondering why the Austin area has so many car guys, yet there is no monthly swap meet. Other cities have their monthly parking lot swap meets that I've been to and enjoyed. I personally don't like waiting months in between the big annual swap meets we have around here. So HAMBer "Freeland" and I came up with the details, and found a great location to have a monthly swap meet in the Austin area, and made it happen.

The location is at the Capitol City VFW Post 8787 in North Austin. This place is great. It's conveniently located right off the I-35 frontage road, has lots of parking, nice restrooms and a great bar inside if you get thirsty.

This is an AUTOMOTIVE parts swap meet. Motorcycles are welcome. Windchimes and household items are NOT welcome. So bring those parts out to sell, and bring that cash to buy what you've been looking for.

The first swap meet will be on Feb 6th, 2011 from 9am-5pm. Starting in March, we are shooting for the Swap Meet to be on the 2nd Sunday of each month, but haven't confirmed that with the VFW as of yet. Once we get the full 2011 shedule, we will revise our poster and it will be permanent. Speaking of posters, our very own multi talented, award winning, meat eating, beard growing HAMB bro "McTullis" came up with the killer poster you see below. Many thanks to him for his kindness and talent.

So, if you're in the Central Texas area, help spread the word about our monthly swap meet. Bring those parts out to sell, or bring that cash and look for a good deal. We're all eager to see this swap meet grow into a monthly event that we all look forward to.

Help spread the word, this will be what we make it to be... We have a great group of guys and gals in our neck of the woods and far beyond! As well we all know we have a few more parts than we have projects or projects that we will be getting to anytime soon! So why not bring those parts out and help your brothers and sisters by getting a new cl***ic on the road again by spreading the wealth... Asides none of us wants to be called out on an upcoming episode of Hoarders!

Great Idea and I am sure we will make some of them.

 

I made the first show came down from rockwall , sold nothing but had a good time .
This year should be better but as in an earlier post said keep it automotive . last year had shower curtin ring vendors .

 

@ Hot Rod Ron... I am sure we will have a Meet in April but this Swap Meet is not affiliated with the LSRU... As well @3in1, this will be the first one held... Please, do come..., and we promise to try to keep the shower curtain ring vendors at bay... unless Im sure there is some use for them that a Rat Rodder would need... JK, but please do come out if youre able... The goal is to make this a monthly event...

 

I would love to its little bit of a drive for me but if there is one around round up time then I could kill too birds with one stone type of deal.

 

Maybe we can work something out... Its getting to be a week long party over here with practically all the locals taking the week off to hit up all the runs, bbqs etc... may just have to have a little meet the weekend before just to give everyone more opp to trade and buy goods beforehand and throughout the week till the RU.

This may be a bit early, but will you run at the same time as the Lonestar Roundup? It's a long drive for me.

 

Great idea, the LSRU is pretty much over on Sunday with the exception of the cruise to Ski Shores, it would be a great opportunity to off some stuff that didn't sell at LSRU on Friday or Saturday.

 

There is still yet some planning that needs hammered out with the VFW Post to set dates... However, hope the Good Idea Fairy keeps hitting all of us to make this a great monthly event...
