That's where the belts in my '55 are. I'm replacing them this winter to match the new interior colors but I'm sticking with the mount points my dad used 25 years ago. I'll be beefing the mounts up a bit as described above and putting in new Grade-8 hardware with Nylock nuts to keep anything from loosening up.

They're a damn good idea in one of these trucks or any older vehicle, considering anything over 20 mph is scary when you have a 3 or 4 foot steel spear pointed at your chest. I'm also installing a collapsible steering column for that reason.

I don't have any installation pics, but here's a couple that show what happens when a new, (at the time), Buick runs a stop sign and is T-boned at about 50 MPH. The other pic is the ****py Buick that ran the stop sign.

By the way, I was lucky. I ended up with only a good sized gouge in the top of my head. The visor brackets do that when you hit them with your head.

The truck was kinda lucky, too. The Cameo parts were basically undamaged. Everything else was bent, though. The left frame rail was shoved back 3 inches, the front axel was bent, and the left front spring perches were half torn off of the frame rails. Also, the 235 six was ripped off of it's mounts, and the back window was half popped out....In addition to the cab being kinda squished like an accordian, on the driver's side.:eek::eek:

Seat belts will be going in, when the rebuild is finished. No, it didn't have any before.

I was driving a buick like that when I got in my weck, I can't remember exactly what model, i was at the top of a hill turning left when some kids with no lights came speeding up the hill and T boned me, pushed the p***enger side of the car all the way to the drivers side, flipped the car on it's side and it rolled down the embankment, if i hadn't been wearing a belt i would have been tossed around in the car like a clothes dryer, wear your belts

He may have asked a long time ago, but I am now starting to get the idea of how to install them into my 54 bel air for the whole family.

    Search is a good thing.
