Hi, I have just purchased a 1956 oldsmobile super 88 four door sedan. The engine runs but needs some attention which I will be doing gradually. Right now I need to change the engine oil and filter. Can anyone tell me what oil I should use, and what quantity the oil sump takes? Thanks

  4. No shit, India? I bet 60 year old Oldsmobile parts are a bit tough to find! Probably can't go wrong with 10W-30 oil; I'd put in four quarts, start it up and let it run for a few miniutes, and then the engine off and check the level on the dipstick.

I was in India 2 months ago for 3 weeks job. We had a cab driver who took part in Dragraces in Mumbai at night time... they mixed Indian petrol with DYNAMITE !!
Engine made it a couple if races, then it was history, he explained.

The guy bought old Royal Enfiled bikes and converted them to DIESEL and customized them, sold them with profit.

Last place I ever though I shold go around to discuss dragracing was in Bangalore...

As always, you'll never know where you will find someone with same intrests.

I saw some old US trucks, but no cars. All were new small discusting cars.

    Hi and welcome from Scotland.
I used plain old Castrol GTX in a '62 Olds I had some years ago.Never had any problems. Not sure about the oil filter. If I can find out,I'll let you know.
