  5. 40StudeDude: We're going to have to refer our friend to the infamous "Deth Wobbel" thread for instructions on how HAMBer's respond to poor spelling...;)
Come to think of it, I can use a good laugh now... I'm going to that thread right after I submit this... To me, it's the best thread ever... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=470139&highlight=deth+wobbel

The 55 was stolen right after the movie was done. Though their were three 55's. two were the old cars from Two Lane Blacktop and were used to cruise, then the other one was used for the crash and then became a circle track car. The other one was for sell for $2,000, the 32' was the same price. But they never were sold until the movie was released in movie theaters, so they got pricy. The Pharaoh's merc was for $975 and Brian Setzer bought it and sold it later after making it better looking. Then the 58 Impala was $375 and bought by Mike Famalette who still has it. The 49 and 58 were bought before the movie was released. They were so cheap because they thought the movie was going to do badly.

Sorry, but olpaul is right. Mike Famalette bought in 1972 as a senior for his first car for $285 after he talked them into a cheaper price. He got it before the movie came out so it was cheap cause everyone thought it would bomb. He keep it in storage until his daughter Ashley needed a school project so she rebuilt it. She is now driving it as her first car.

Back in the 80's a guy in Wichita, Kansas had both the coupe and the 55 but eventually sold them. The local paper ran an article showing them displayed at a local drive in theater (which is now gone).I talked to him one day when he was driving the 55 and he told me the story of how he got them but I don't remember the details. Bet he wishes he still had them.

My two cousins own clones of the '55 and '32 here in New Zealand, replicas down to fine detail except for being right-hand steer...even the licence plates are copies of originals..

There's one at Universal Studios in Orlando next to the 55 parked in front of Mels Drive-In. No idea what it is but it has a motor and looks pretty real. Probably just a clone.

Jeff always had a copy. Rick also had a copy before he was able to purchased the real coupe. There was a article a long time ago in Rod N Custom about Rick's fake coupe. He wanted to buy the real one at the time but it wasn't for sale but he was allowed to take photos and measurements of the real couple in order to build a accurate replica.

Leave it to a first post FNG to post on a year old thread. It's cooler than hell that the guy has the original one pretty well unmolested but lamer than hell that guys actually spend good money to build clones. Someday there will probably be a Graffiti coupe only run with 500 wannabes showing up with yellow coupes and some of them will actually be 32's.
