I picked up my '50 plymouth from the exhaust shop last night, and couldn't be happier with the sound of my hopped up 230 flathead. Still grinn'n... Finally, after four years, I can get the car on the road again! Of course, there's still a million loose ends to finish up first... I used a set of Smithy's, with a set of Langdon's tube headers. Also had a balance pipe put in ahead of the mufflers, to even the tone a bit. Now to make a sound clip... Pete The pics:
i'll be waiting for that sound clip just read the engine build on your site, very nice, i like those flat 6's.........
I think my smithy's are 22". I bought them from Hot Rod and Custom Supply about three years ago, so I'd have to measure them to be sure... Thanks for the complements guys... Pete
Beautiful job on the dual exhaust, as well as on the whole car ! Really nice! You do know tho that split manifolds on six cylinders is hard on the engines....cuz you'll always have your foot in it just to here those pipes!!!!No sound around neater than a split six! (guess I should get to work on my '50 Plymouth )
LOL... As I left the muffler shop last night, all the guys that work there were out on the curb to hear it. I don't think any of them had ever heard a flathead six before, so, I nailed it and gave them a taste of the sweet sound . I hadn't run the engine at much more than an idle since it's first startup either, so I wanted to hear it too. Did it four or five more times in the 1/2 mile to my house, I think your right... Pete
