First, I've been a member since November, great site. When I was in the 11th grade, my dad helped me buy my first car, a 1951 Merc coupe. Drove it for 4 years, sold it when I went into the Air Force in 1958. Married afterward, had 3 children, still married to the same lady for 52 years. ALWAYS regretted selling my Merc. Benn wanting another for the last 52 years and finally, 3 months ago, came across one that I had to have, another 51. Never will sell this one, have a son and several grandsons, one will want it. Here's a couple of pics. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
It looks like a nice ride. Brings back memories of my uncles 51 Merc 4 dr. Enjoy it you've earned the right.
Congrats on your new ride AND the 52 years of marriage. Been with mine for only 38, it's still a work in progress.
I used to work on a Black one just like you'res ! I bet that ride runs like a swiss watch too !!!!!! Thanks for sharing the pictures too. scrubba
I love it !!! ... but I don't know how to break it to you, I think your rear doors are on backwards !!??!!
Nice!! It even has the original carburetor. Thats a long wait. I'm still waiting for my 50' to come back.........
I had a dark green one in the 58-59 time frame. Like you should have kept it, but I traded it for a 55 Ford conv, that I should have also kept. Looks nice, I'm jealous.
I'm happy for you. Nice story. I'm thinking the grandkids will get a real kick of of riding in the Merc.
Hate to ask what may be a dumb question, but ... I see "bump" a lot of time on here in the replies. What do it mean?
"Bump" is a means to bring a topic back to the top of the forum where it can be seen by people who might have missed it earlier. Most of the time no new information is posted...just the word "bump".
