I've heard that term myself and tend to think it's pretty hella gay. I would call the Cramps a garage rock band before anything...

    Thanks Tikifreak, I appreciate it.

    Has anyone metioned www.hepcatrecords.com yet?

I also like the Dempseys and Turbo 350 in Memphis. You'd think there'd be alot of rockabilly bands in Memphis. Uh uh. There are 2. And I happened to stumble into both of them while I was down there. :D

    Where's krupanut?

Any and everything that came out of Sun Studios in the 50's... Elvis, Carl Perkins etc. Early gene Vincent and Wanda Jackson sounds damn good to me too. for me thats the building Blocks .. I also like Chuck Berry and bo Diddley etc. Its not "rockabilly" but it makes me want to cruise and have a good time. alot of good new stuff too . let me think.................

I so rarely get to post here due to my comparative total lack of knowledge of all matters tecnical, so I'll jump at the chance to offer some OT input...

    I'd recommend:

    The Chop Tops

    The Frantic Flattops (My favorite!)

    The Cigar Store Indians

Just a few of the "neo-billy" bands....

  14. The originals are wonderful of course. My Two favorites of the current acts are Paul Galaxy & the Galactix and the Lustre Kings. The Galactix are out of Denver and play rockabilly and surf. Paul galaxy is a fabulous guitarist. The Lustre Kings are from New York and are an great old style act. Check out the links.

I think the best rockabilly band ever was the late great Bel Furies, they put out but one record and it's an absolute masterpiece. I can't think of a more brilliantly written record.
