Maybe the lamest thread ever, but......... What were some of the things guys had on the package shelf showing through the rear window for everyone to see? I've seen Club Plaques (cool) Bobble Head Animals (lame) Skulls (overdone) Leapord Print and Fun Fur ...... Mine is bare and it needs somethin'. Pics? Ideas? Thanks.
Louvers. I like that. Hah, I've seen the model car of the car thing, what are they thinking, really? And the pipe organ speaker covers Tuck and roll always looks good, seen a lot of that in the older magazines.
rick is right - no self-respecting rodder or custom driver would be seen in the mid to late 50s without a set of genuine bongo drums in the rear window. dj
tunk-n roll is the only way to go in 1963 i took auto mech at NDSSS and we all headed over to the auto body dept and got them to do our package trays, they used tins then to stuff them i had a 55 chev and the tray was blue and white, thought i was on top of the world then i came back from Nam and took auto body and did the interior in my 57 chev 4 door, ****on tufted cost $45 then complete some of you guys never will know about the good old days!!!!!
Yes that is a Louvered panel layed down and held with small ****on head screws over the package tray. On the subject of **** carpet ,Western Auto which I think now is Advance Auto sold a white colored **** carpet for the tray in the late 50s early 60s. I had one in my 53 chevy in 1960. "some of you guys never will know about the good old days!!!!!" Just why I was askin' eugene vik, I love to hear how things really were back then. I love hearing my Dad tell stories of the Hot Rod Heydays.
Not sure if you would call this traditional, but my package tray is a collage of old drag photos sprayed with UV repllent so they don't fade...
Rare Cossman animal head.(good luck finding one) Going to take it off the plaque and mount it to a simple metal stand. Base hidden by upholstery.
