Years ago, while in highschool (circa 73-75) My brother and I saw a Model A with dual slicks on it. I believe it was shown in one of the old Hot Rod magazine yearbooks. I have no idea what year the book was from as the school library had several. We've been looking through all the older magazines that we could find to see it again but with no luck. On the off chnace that someone here might remember it, I ask. Anyone know this car?
i don't remember an "a" having dual slicks, but the kookie "t" wound up with dual slicks in it's hideous show car current version.
I'm looking at the picture right now in The Rodder's Journal #26 page 121 It's a Don Nicholson roadster and the wheels were welded up by Geo. Williams .
I also remember seeing a picture of it or one like it in a magazine in the 50s but remember no detail!! Those 4 slicks sure made an impression in my mind though.........I wondered then how the axles would hold up to that! About the same period I remember a picture of a dragster with 4 slicks also.
Eddie Hill was the first to run dual slicks I believe in his twin engine rail job, they said that the car would tear asphalt right out of the ground!!But it was faster than hell.I have some pics of it at greenvally,or caddo mills raceway.
What I saw was a drag racer. I thought it was an A. Been so long now.....the body ages.......memory fades........ DrJ, any chance you could scan it and email it?
Yeh, that's the one I'm thinking of!! I remember a very young Eddie Hill standing beside it or standing up in it with a trophy! Thanks.
