Well, as it goes, Lukester is not the only one blessed in the luck department...look what I found 5 miles from my house in a farmer's field! It's not all there, but what is there is 100% 1950 Mercury! I'll be pickin' her up in the next week or so...Sorry about the pics...I gotta learn to take some full profile shots when I do this! Oh yeah, and you don't even wanna know what I paid for it....it'll bring a grown man to cryin....

Thanks guys...yeah, I've already started the gears turning on the ideas...I'm kinda inspired by the '49 Merc in CKD #12 known as "Bo Huff's Other Merc"...basically stock appearing, with very very subtle modifications, skirts, wide whites on black steelies, and a really *****in' chop....I really dig how he chopped his...3 inches in front, and seven inches out back...wicked cool! This is probably the chop I'd like for the Merc, and I'm considering the '56 Packard taillight treatment too, cruiser skirts, and possibly power by a Caddy 390...this last one I'd like to do, but it might just get put together with Chevy power for now, just so I can get it on the road for relatively cheap....just got a serious line on a '51 more door parts car too....

That can't have been there long, should have been sunken and the bottom gone. You got in the nick of time, probably the first winter out of long term storage.

Alright Peddro, you asked for it....keep in mind that it's a 2 door, and it's got the ***le....a measly $200. There...let the crying begin...
Yeah, the 4 door is basically for the front sheet metal and the front suspension parts...but I think the 4 door body could be saved too...let me know if any of you guys are interested in it...
Hey Dan...nope, sorry to say it, but he still has my motor...Dino and I are setting plans to go retrieve it on Saturday....hence it will be going to Blakely's Machine Shop on Monday, that is unless you think I should talk to Barnyard about it....I'll give him a call and see what he says...

  12. Damn! And I thought my uncle got the merc score of the decade when he bought 3 for $1000 last year:eek:

  13. Finish your coupe.

You know somethin' really sad? I guess the car was free for the taking up until the price of s**** metal went through the roof....he only wanted what he thought the salvage yard would give him for it in s**** weight...
    More crying ensues....
I just found out yesterday that I can probably get all of the stainless for the car, and I guess it's spottless, and, sob, sniff...it's still got the stick overdrive trans in it and I get that too....And for a day I was the luckiest man alive...damn, i shoulda bought a lottery ticket! :)

Hey Joe...yeah the coupe's priority No. 1 at this point for sure...not gonna touch the merc till it's done, but the deal was way too sweet to let it slide! Plus now I guess I've got another cool thing to look at 'till I get to it....

Unchopped? I was thinking this would be one of those rare "tall-roof" models. :D

So I take it this is gonna be a nose-high g***er?

Is there a place on the HAMB where we can post pics of long lost auto treasures or barn/driveway finds? I've got a few I can take pics of!

Hey man, good eye...I didn't think anybody would notice that...when I heard about the car, they told me it had a VW motor in it....And it was inside the car where the front seat had been, thankfully...cuz I was thinkin' what kinda sick ****er would put a VW in a merc? thinking that it was under the trunk lid, hooked up....
Hey Louver Dude...that sounds like a plan, but is that actually a reward or a punishment? :)

    sweet find!

the VW motor is worth some $, if its a 36hp.

  30. That is a good find, all I can find around here is one 4dr with no dash in it. Although it has me wondering what people'd go on a 4dr that's otherwise more or less complete... Found a coupe, but it's like a '46-'47.
