I've a choke assembly off a Holley 4V that has the piston stuck. It's soaking with Kroil. Any harm in adding some heat? Any other tricks? It shouldn't be set too badly as the carburetor itself was in good shape.

I'd be afraid of too much heat on it. The metal that the housing is cast of might not handle a lot of heat. I'd let it soak for a while first and see if you can free it up.

soaking always worked for me....seems to be the safest way. ive let some soak over a few weeks and they free up like it was never stuck.

Many times I've drilled a small hole in the bottom of the piston cylinder. Used a small shaft of some sort and driven the piston out. Then re-seal the hole with a lead shot or J B Weld or something of that sort. Worked like a champ.

Thanks all. I had soaked it a bit, then got a small pick to reach down and touch it. A couple of whacks with a small hammer dislodged it. Pulled on it with a needle nose, and out it came. Ran it up and down a few times, good as new!
