I bought some NOS Thrush muffler son eBay for my car a long time ago.... new in the sealed boxes. Had no problems installing them on my car when it came time, and I like 'em.

From what I've seen on other boards alot of this stuff is bringing crazy money because the muscle car guys are going "day 2", adding stuff like traction bars, Cragars, guages, and mufflers that are period correct. When you see what they spend restoring them, $500 for a set of mufflers is pocket change.

If it were a non wear item I would keep them, or if you were going to display them I would keep them (maybe even wax 'em) But if you run the mufflers, how will they look in few years and will they have the same meaning?

now if it where a engine that you and your dad built I understand but its the same brand mufflers he ran I would sell and take the money and make new ones with your family or friends

There's a pair of Thrush Silencers on ebay right now for $25 with no bids, so if you would be just as happy with them and think yours would bring big money sell them. On the other hand if you have been hanging on to these for years to carry on the family 'Thrush' tradition, bolt em on. If you do list them remember that 1 guy paid that price, if he was the only other bidder then the 2nd set won't bring that much. I saw an intake sell on ebay one time for $1200 and decided I would sell mine like it if it would bring that much. Listed it for $1200 and someone offered me $1000. I sold it. Had $40 in it!, and it had been sitting on a shelf for several years gathering dust. Haven't really missed it either.

i found a tri-power intake for a 348 in my garage when i bought my house. At the time i needed the cash and didnt think i would ever have use for it. It sold on ebay for $100.

Here i am 4 years later with a small port 409 in my garage. Ya think i can find a multi-carb intake for that engine for $100 ???

I did the same thing with an overdrive unit from an off-topic Jeep. I sold it for $650 about ten years ago, now im in the market for one for my Scout. It would've bolted right on.

Oh well, cant save em all

My opinion without reading any replies...........Sell them if you think you can get the $500.+ someone else got. They are not an item you could see on a car. If you do sell them, keep the boxes and nothing will have changed except the bank account balance. Happy New Year! Bob

be careful of what you see stuff sell for on ebay.

when you see stuff sell on there for crazy amounts of money, they usually show back up on ebay a month later.

it's because one of the seller's buddies got stuck being high bidder.

Put them on the bay with a reserve you feel good about,if they sell for the money good.If not run them on your car.Best way to do it and feel good about it.

  17. this almost seems like a joke. 500 bucks for those...realy? come on. i realy dont think you will ever find some one to uy them for that but if you do i would sell them in a second.

you know those stickers your dad gave you that you put on your bike back then? yeah well you can still get the stickers. so put the stickers on another set of mufflers and have the same thing. or just buy porters and be done with it...

I stuggle with this quite a bit it seems. I usually end up selling if I think it's really something I won't use. One that comes to mind was a complete set of Lil red Express wheels, bought for $50 sold on -bay for $500. I still hope to buy a LRT one day, and it seems like half of them are missing the wheels... Oh well, too much **** not enough time or $$

In your case, it seems like a no brainer. It sounds like you could buy a better quality set of mufflers with some $$ left...
