thank you all. Stu pm sent over there. Happy New Year! this years "holidays" have been spent working, and im not complaining. for the last day of the year was the best day. we got the car in basecoat!!! i feel like its been forever that ive been building this car but looking back its only been less than 6 months that i decided to give this car some much needed attention. its become a bigger and better project than i originally intended. my painter and friend Leo is laying on the last coat of yellow primer... lays on nice this pic is of the primer still wet to see how straight the panel is... i cant tell you how many times we blocked this car out. im just glad that part is over! with the car and parts all blocked and cleaned we are finally ready for base coat on the last day of the year. here Leo is laying down a nice coat of black epoxy primer that he will use as a final sealer... the base coat is sprayed right over the sealer... the color changed a bit as it dries and when the clear is applied it will brighten up a bit... and in case your wondering yes we are spraying the car outside in my pals side yard, we have a really nice booth lined up for Monday / Tuesday to spray another coat of base and apply the clear after we fine sand the base and nib any details we are not happy with... thanks, Yaril
WOW !!!! What a great build. Looks like most of it was done at home. How about some pics & info on the Buick. Again WOW on the Ford, Fantastic Job. So Many subtle modes.. Keep us interested to the finish
Danger, don't now how I'm just now finding this thread. I gotta say, when I seen Carson top in the thread ***le I was like, oh no.......I'm not a fan. This car, however, is absolutely *****in!
thanks for the feedback everyone! long day so its a quicky... few coats of base, followed by 2 coats of clear. tomorrow we will sand the clear down and Leo will apply 2 more coats of clear. i honestly dont know how it can get any slicker but we want a little more depth and slickness. car ready for the booth
This looks GREAT! A kustom built in the nice clean way that they did pre -53. Very tasteful, they way I love kustoms. (I'm sure that this request is no necessarylease no pinstriping or sign painted name on the car...)
Sensational! That 'Korean Kustom' was one of my favorite cars, mostly because of the "Gotcha" shot on the magazine cover. (sailor with his duffel bag just off the ship in the background, finished car delivered to the port dock to be driven for the first time!) Can't believe you found someone that thought the top was 'finished' in see-through chicken wire! Hah! And they all go to car shows.....
