What a cool story, this gentelman is as classic as it gets. He is such a humble straight ahead guy. I was at the first Winternational drags and had an opportunity to meet him and shake his hand. I remember how nice he was and said where you from, Nebraska, wow, thats a long ways, nice to meet you, enjoy the show. I was in awe, as he was very busy and swarmed with fans and he took time for me. Another treasured moment in my hot rod life! Thanx for this great post. ~sololobo~

While working a booth at the 1998 PRI show in Columbus Ohio Ed Iskenderian walks up to see what we have. I proceed to offer my hand and told him what an honor it is to meet him.

His reply? "It's an honor to meet you also." What a humble and talented man.

Here's a picture of Ed with his friend the late Pork Zartman with our car at Thompson a few years back. Very nice man. He even signed the door panel on the coupe for us.[IMG]

Fantastic pics. Anyone that gets to 89 and is in that condition has won the top prize, in my opinion.

Did he make any comment about your car having "CRANE Engineering" painted on the side?

When I was 11 years old (1968) I wrote to a few of the advertisers in Rod and Custom asking for decals. Isky was the only guy who sent me one ( sent me a few actually, including a tshirt transfer) I've had two engines built and both times I insisted that Isky cams be used. Thanks Ed, you made by day way back in 1968

How lucky to have someone post this history on the Hamb. Back in the 50's I started using these cams and can't recall how many years but it was a bunch. Only met him one time many years ago and although a brief meeting its one I never forgot. He is still number one in my books. Thanks again for all the pictures and information.

Did Isky scrape any remaining food off your plates to take home to his dogs? Thats an honor in itself. "Hey pal, are you done with that?"

I don't know the answer to that but the one breakfast photo is interesting as the look on Isky's face appears to be thinking/saying "son, why in bloody hell did you tattoo your whole face neck and arms like this? We never did that in the 40's or 50's".

I posted earlier about the SCTA awards dinner. I'm a bottom feeder in LSR and the speeches weren't exactly on the edge of your seat stuff so you can imagine my surprise when I'm looking around and spot Isky. What caught me out too was to my immediate right was Lou Senter. I thought there must be a mistake. A mere mortal sitting wth the gods? But it turned out, like everyone here is saying, Isky is one hell of a nice guy,

My shoppe is just down the street from Isky and the Burger stand. Once saw Isky clean food off plates from an empty table and left. Moments later a guy comes walking out from the restroom back to the table and wonders where his lunch went off to. The guy got his food replaced and the owner mumbled somthing about "That dam Isky"----- Priceless
