I just rebuilt my first carburater . I bought a Edelbrock 1407 750 cfm carb used. It ran ok on my motor but there was a hesatation when there was a full tank and and two other guys in the car when Its just me and the kids goes like hell. Thought that maybe needs alittle bit more fuel in the secondaries so since I will have the carb apart I will go ahead and put a new rebuild kit in it.

I found that the choke linkage was not right . When the choke was open the fast idle was engaged and the choke was not fully open. Now when the choke is pulled it closes to the correct amount and high idle works right and when the choke is open the high idle falls away and idles normal.
once its warmed up it starts right up with no touching the throttle.
The fatter jet I put in was too much so I put the stock jet back in. I will play with it once the weather warms up. Its been cold as hell and snow on the ground for the last two weeks.

The car is a 1953 CADILLAC and motor is a mild built 454. Dual plane high rise intake. mild cam with stock rockers and valve springs, Full tube headers and 2 1/2 inch dual exhaust.

Congratulations on the carb rebuild and I really like the Caddy/454 combo.
