I like the way this forum has a little bit of everything. Too many forums also usually ends up as not as many visitors overall -- the whole in this case being less than the sum of its parts.

    I say leave it be.

NO! Are you nuts? I ***ume that you are no longer running your "Own V8-based forum" because you made similar, silly-*** recommendations like this and it crashed like a three-wheeled bulldozer. Leave things to Ryan...he seems to know his ****.

I'm a member of a couple of other forums that deal with HAMB off topic vehicles.
They both have that micro-forum thing going on.
    IT ****S.

The HAMB isn't a simple forum and goes beyond that description.
It has always been on a different plane and the accepted rules don't apply. Never did...never will.
Despite personally being open to some "rule bending" for the sake of driveability and ease of building, I'd like to see some of the drivel and off topic vehicles tightened up on...sure....but CHANGE it?
    No.

The HAMB is like life: It throws things in your face and you deal with it, good or bad, on topic or off. You want something out of it you work for it.

To hell with how the Lemmings do things...we need to be tougher if anything, not quietly segregated into sugarcoated mini-forums, just to make things "nicer" for the traditionally challenged.

I am only new hear and I have voted with the majority simply because I also use the Garage Journal and with all the Forums Ryan runs now a split here I think would not work. As most have said
'If it works why mess with it'.

The structure of the HAMB does not need to change.

What needs to happen is that the members who claim to love this forum need to ban together to protect it from OT posts and new members that think the strict and narrow focus of the forum is a joke.

For example, we all agree that the HAMB is not a place for rat rods, yet do a member search for names with the word rat in them. There are 1446 member names that come up. A few of them are coincidental like the word pirate for example, but that still leaves well over 1000 members who think its ok.

Do a search for intros with the word rat in them. There are plenty that basically say "I'm new here and I love rat rods". A few of them learn quickly and change their tone, but there are a few that are defiant. Yet many members still "welcome" them with open arms. But that is just to boost their post count I suspect.

If people here claim to love this place as much as they do, I hope that they will take the rules to heart and help protect the forum from OT posts and from people who will burn up band width and space with useless posts that are way off topic.

So, there you have it. Why did you leave your V8 forum with 90,000 members?

Sounds to me like you need to go start another forum on your own again... why did you come over here and what happened to your forum..?
