  1. Not trying to hijack the thread but where is N&N located? B.t.w., there is also Spirit Industries in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Nice people....

i've got a 26 roadster body that was originally purchased in 1969-71 around houston. it is a very nice thick fibergl*** job. not sure the manufacture but will ask the guy i bought it from this weekend. i would rather work on a car for 3-30 years than look for one that long and have nothing. you can always build a fiber car now, sell it for enough to buy a steel project later.

  3. I've always been impressed with the bodies New Age up in Conn. produces.

It depends on how much time, tallent, and money you have. If your blessed with all three
then go with metal. If short on any of the three then look at gl***. You can be driving the gl*** car for years befor the metal one will be ready.

Duece Customs out of Australia make AWESOME bodys. I've had one and if I was building gl*** would happily buy one. Many many guys in Australia run them and I know he exports to the US. Good luck with the build.

And for the guys who cant help themselves posting comments that dont pertain to suppliers as per the question do a search and go post your stuff on one of the MANY previous threads re gl*** vs steel.

Funny how a 'gl*** body catches so much hell while a new Brookville body gets respect. Different materials for sure, & the Brookville is a near dead-on reproduction, but neither are a Ford body.

Considering my budget, I'd be thrilled with a NICE 'gl*** '32 5wd body. If $$$ were no object, we'd all want a real Ford body.

How much would it cost to build a 'gl*** '32 5wd highboy? 20K? 25K? What does that same car cost to build in steel? I hate to think.... Still, you won't loose $$$ on either.

Find a nice 'gl*** body & get to work.

Amen Harrison!!!! Everyone forgets that brookville was not made by Henry. I've built gl*** and steel. But remember every thing for a 32 (gl*** or steel) costs twice as much.

I have seen plenty of all three and for my money I would take the Brookville over the Ford OEM any day...but then again I am more interested in quality of construction than I am in nostalgia.

I bought a Rats Gl*** 5 window body. For the money, ($7,300 with power window kits & gl*** installed) it's been a pretty good body. Rat even delivered it to me at Columbus during the Goodguys PPG Nationals. That saved me on the shipping.:) It doesn't have drip rails and I would have preferred a standard firewall, plus the rear window garnish molding is junk,:( but other than that, no major complaints. My bodyman/painter is still smiling, so that must say something about my purchase.:D New Age makes a nice one too! I even bought the rear bobbed fenders and reproduction front motorcycle fenders from New Age.

Yep, Doug's a good guy and builds a top notch product.

I wonder...if a guy hammered out a steel or aluminum Corvette, would it get the red headed step-child treatment!?!

32 Ford owners sure do change their opinions alot.First everyone downs this guy for wanting a fibergl*** car ,saying they are junk. Now only 6-months later Speedway comes out with a fake 32 for $49,000 and it is glorified as a great deal.I know this is a old thread but I hope you found you a good deal and are building what you want.

I have a 19 year old Outlaw body and ch***is and is only two small stress cracks at the bottom corners on the windshield opening. The windshield was installed with pointed corners and that may have caused the problem. Otherwise I'm very happy with their product, but their not cheap either.

Here in the Southeastern US, things tend to rust, so 'gl*** is really your best option. Not to mention, finding real steel is almost impossible. If you live in a wet area of the world, 'gl*** is a safe bet.

When buying a fibergl*** body, Just be sure to learn from my mistake: don't buy a cheap body! Cheap is what you get. I didnt know the difference between a 29 or a 32; of the difference between cheap -vs- good fibergl***. I saw a guy selling a cheap body, so I bought it. UGH. You want something THICK, SOLID, and REINFORCED. How solid are the floors? MIne were about 1/8 inch. I had to install a 3/4 inch nydacord floor. Are the doors, decklid ***embled? Are the bear claws and hinges installed? THAT will cost you about $500-$800 right there. Mine had none of that. I bought the body, frame, and front end. THEN I found the HAMB. The learning curve was steep.

Russ Nomore in Lousiana is a great guy, his bodies and frames are very good, his prices are very good. I bought his frame after I did the math. I coldnt buy ASC rails, ***emble them, then box them in for cheaper than he makes them. I dont know how he does it. Great product. His bodies are the best I've seen.

For the amount of money and time I have put into my cheap body, I could have bought one of Nomore's killer roadster bodies and been done with it. Maybe next time.

Is Wescott's the only phaeton body? If I take on another project, I want one of those. Also, a bit OT, but what tips do you guys with f-cars have to undercoat fibergl*** fenders to prevent damage from rocks and debris?

My new flooring is so hard it destroyed 2 jigsaw blades while trying to cut out my toeboard/firewall/trans-tunnel. I'm just going to paint it.

As for most other 'gl*** bodies, I've never seen anyone do anything other than paint, but, I haven't seen ALL the 'gl*** cars:D. I wouldnt worry about it.

New Age Motorsports make the best 32 5 Window body. They are steel renforced and have all the wood in them for the upholstry. Gl*** ,regulators ,latches garnish moldings. Very little prep is needed for paint.Had mine on the road for 6 years with no problems.
