Slot Cars, Anyone? (HAMB Slots of Doom #2)

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Mike Zenor, Mar 3, 2005.

  1. First of all, big apologies to all you LeadThumbs who've been waiting around for word of Slots o' Doom II -- a bunch of work-related crap has kept me imprisoned in a hermetically sealed mayo jar under Funk & Wagnall's porch (Cue world's tiniest violin).

Anyhoo, I've gnawed my way out and am finally ready to punish some 1/24 scale plastic. If anybody's interested, let me know what would be the ideal Saturday for you, and I'll set the sucker up; I wanna make sure we pick the date that works best for everybody. Site will be same as last year (Dad's Slot Cars in Des Plaines IL). I'll post details soon as we get a date locked down.

    My prefs --

    1. April 15
    2. March 25
    3. April 22

  2. bump, and correction... all dates should be Saturdays

    1. April 16
    2. March 26
    3. April 23

Every once in awhile I get the urge to get the ol' dusty track out and put it together. I'm into the Zip-Zap SE's that have proportional steering (radio controlled), and made an "R" shaped track out of drywall and plywood. We can race up to 6 cars at once without frequency interference. Have you ever seen them? They're pretty slick.

  4. April 23 sounds good to me...!!!

Scallop53 and his son Cole are building a "KILLER" roadster  so I have to come up with something different...!;)

  5. Any Saturday is good with me.I'll pick April 23 for Marks sake so he has time to build a ride.No big tank like last year either,Cole's roadster would probably fit in the back seat of that thing.Mark I also picked up a 32 vicky body and just looking for a chassis, then Cole and I can both race.

That brings back memories. Used to race at a place in Riverside with my neighbors when i was a youngster. Cool to see they're still around. Anyone know wher one is in SoCal?

  19. Nope...!!! Not yet...!

Dan you can get a pre-owned chassis at "Lucky Bob's" fairly reasonable and you can test drive it before you buy it...!!

That's why my car "Kicked ass" last year because I picked the fastest car out of the stack to use as my drivetrain on the 59' Impalla...!;)

Yeah.......there is one in Buena Park. Check out The Old Weird Herald - The Most Dangerous 'Zine in Slot Car Racing for more info and track lists.:D

  21. Hey Mark I was looking at chassis on ebay, but either it's a full car or just the frame,I'll keep watching.

  22. Bring your body down to "Lucky Bobs" and match the size of it up to the pre-owned cars chassis...!

They sell for $20 on up for the complete car and you could just pin your car body on it and race!
