T-Shirt Printing

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 63CadGuy, Mar 4, 2005.

  1. I'm thinking about having some shirts designed and was wondering were the best place might be online to get them printed. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm willing to pay a little more to get good quality T-shirts. The last thing I want is a cheap t-shirt that shrinks up to nothing after the first was or looks like it was put together by a blind man. Please post any suggestions.

Also, some of you guys who have had posters made of your artwork, were did you get them made at? Thanks.

  2. since you are in minneapolis , i'd recogmend Winters Co in Savage,Mn...they print all the T-shirts for Msra's Back to the 50's....phone: (952) 736-9600

Check out your local guys first. If you need more option, I have had a lot of stuff printed at Contagious Graphics http://www.contagiousgraphics.com. I've had them do posters, t-shirts and stickers. Great service, great prices, and quick turn-around.

Also (shameless self promotion time) I do all kinds of illustration and design work and have done work for a lot of folks on the HAMB (Jalopy Showdown, Vintage Auto Parts/Gennie/Streamline, Outsiders, Slick Devils and several other club and shop logos). Let me know if you need help on the artwork end of things.

I've been thinking about doing some shirts too, but don't really want to order the 24 minimum that some screen print shops want, so I've been considering www.cafepress.com- they're more expensive, but you can order them one or two at a time if you want. I don't know about their quality- I'd be curious to know if anybody else has tried them.

You can get good prices on low number runs by shopping around a bit. Why don't you check the Hamb-o-dex.

We did quite a bit of work for Cafe Press a few years ago. UO (an online video game company) ordered a **** load of black T's for beta testers (UO2 iirc) and Cafe Press couldn't do them, so they farmed the job on us. Reason is that Cafe Press doesn't or at least didn't screen print anything. They do heat transfers | dye sublimation. When they farmed work to us, it was impossible for them to use their process on anything but white materials. Now a days you can transfer on to color materials but the durability is low.

I'm not trying slag them or anything, but I'd advise getting a sample and wearing it and washing it a few times.

Besides, it's always better to support your local printer, unless they're a joke.

Outlaw Tee's, Navoou, Ill. He is a personal friend, and mostly does hot rod stuff. Reasonable prices and GOOD work.

Tell him Tommy Mc sent you.

Whomever you choose, go with Gildan Ultra Cotton for the shirts themselves. Better quality than Hanes and MUCH better price.

Let me know if you want to see Coldsides work or the Gildan shirts. I have new and old in L and XL.

  15. Thanks Steve, I'll talk to you about this more at the first cruise in April.
