I met a vendor in Pittsburgh Pa. that was into them and reproduced the spun aluminum center caps. I haven't been back to the Parts-a-rama to know if he still has them. Notice the different location of the valve stems.

  3. Any show that dis-allowed that wheel can kiss your ass.:D. I like em

Who gives a rats ass what other people think... If you like them..... use them!

I change up my wheels/tires to suit my moods. I have three sets to change up.

Yep... the early wheels had the "inside" valve stem location. I believe Radir Wheel and Tire makes a bullet that will fit the Foresights. It's an odd size center hole.

Radir has the center caps for the Drag Mag. Is this pic big enough?

Valve stem in the spoke area is a much better wheel. I think the other style is a cheaper version, they arent as hefty as the Foresight (above wheel)

The Indy was the top wheel (polished), Drag Mag was mid level (lathe machined) and the Thunderbolt was the cheapest (Steel chromed rim with alum center).

I think the Cragar wheels wheels look great. They look early 60's era to me. I'm no "traditional" expert, but I don't see how they could get you banned from any traditional style car show. A lot safer running those on your car then some old used wheels that may be cracked or rusted.

  10. Hey I had a set of those made by Speedwheel if I recall. Cool wheels.

To the OP I don't see you getting banned maybe someone won't like 'em but it really doesn't matter now does it.

I like'em they have a tradition/sixties vibe appearance. Remember the hunnert/torque fest shows are only a couple of days out of a year. It's about the drive and use of a traditional looking custom/hotrod vehicle, not whether can get in the gate, obviously that is a bonus, but I think they work.

You know, some of the replies on this board crack me up! I'm talking about the "it's your car do what you want" types. What the hell is this place for if not garnish and swap ideas and opinions with the people we consider our peers? As a HAMB member myself,I consider it very flattering that the original poster values the wealth of knowledge on this board enough so that he feels comfortable running his ideas by the membership here first. I have often asked for opinions and as I was not around back in the day, I respect the input of those that were. By this process. I have got a "feel" for the guys on here that are on the same page as me, metaphorically speaking, and those are the guys I like to run my ideas by. As for the "I don't give a shit what anyone else thinks" brigade, frankly, I think you probably do, even if only a little.
Anyway, to the original poster, I think they are great looking wheel and I think you should run them with something like American classics 1.6 inch narrow whites, and only if you have drum brakes all round. Just my two cents worth.
    Good luck whatever you decide.

Hey man, it's your car. Do what ever makes YOU happy!

Just kidding....rotflmao!! I really dig those wheels. Ok with whitewalls...but not wide whites imo.

  16. I'll make it easy for you. I simply don't like WWWs on anything!:D

I do like those wheels however, as stated I had some originals, the new ones look like they will hold up mucho better. :)

I just want to keep the history that I lived straight. We were all lemmings then too. We didn't ask permission. We just duplicated what we liked. We were raised to be polite so we didn't run up to a guy and say your wheels and tires look like shit but we sure discussed it amongst ourselves. I'm only speaking from my personal experience but aluminum wheels with WWWs were a definite NO NO in my area for 40 years. That's hard to change! To me WWWs on aluminum wheels is a new phenomenon and make me cringe. If that makes me a hater then I'm sorry. I have to be true to my roots.

Yea, put wide whites on EVERYTHING. Hell, I am getting some bias-ply wide whites for my wifes 2006 Corolla. I dont want to be a social pariah. They are especially cool on '40s era rods. NOT running wide whites is grounds for banning. Not running ET ten-spokes should be too...

Its the worship of mediocrity, the sesame street, "I'm ok, your ok" generation. We have to sit here and look at REAMS of ugly dumb-ass cars with early seventies tunnel-rams, wheels that didnt even EXIST until ten years ago with wide whitewalls, and all kinds of other mixed up, incoherent, flavour-of-the-week, horseshit, mish-mashed parts, because pointing out that its tasteless, ugly and not period-correct is not "PC". We are actually supposed to swallow our bile, and comment on how "cool" this rubbish is. Realistically, the HAMB is probably doing more to sabotage the building of traditional cars than "spreading the gospel". This board DESPERATELY needs a "puke" smilie.

Hey, with the skirts you only need two of them. :D
    Looks good to me.
I've got a couple Foresight wheels but they're the slots.
An incompetent tire installer broke one for me though...

I like the photoshop. For the record I've been around the block 1 1/2 times. I scoured all of dear ol Dad's little books and early Hot Rods too. The thing about my comment and WWW is actually on topic and not meant to cause drama or flame anyone. The very few cars I posted 1st are what I thought to be good examples of the use of WWW. I recall vividly, several examples of true cars following a specific style and vibe. Cars mixing kustom and hot rod in ways that probably were a form of rebellion or maybe a thumbing of the nose to conformity (which exists in a huge way even in "our" circles). More than 1/2 of the personality groucho's Vette has is the whitewall rears. Lil Coffin better w/out? Sorry, I repectfully disagree. Rather than attack personal taste I prefer to reflect on such things with an open mind. My personal preference is WWW with chrome OEM style wheels. It's also probably more in keeping with a specific style for those who care about such things (I do and I don't). I think WWW and some mag styles were meant for each other on the right car. True enough what falcongeorge said, and tman and tommy, I respect your views and taste. To say it's a modern mutation couldn't be more wrong. Like I said, I really was there growing up in the 60s. In my mind's eye it's just right and I could see an east coast style Model A cpe with fat whites and ETs covered with frosty paint and way too many carbs. Just sayin...
