we are talking about going for that "la Carrera Panamerica" look minus the rolling bilboards...low,loud,wide...spartan(but still nicely done)interior, stripped down body.that whole "I mean business" look.

Here is a pic of mine. 292, 3X2, Clay Smith cam, T5. If I wasn't a big Y-Block fan I'd have an FE in it. Bigger the better.

57's look good as mild customs, gassers, or stock bodied... check out 1957ford.com for info and the racing section may give you some ideas... as others have stated an FE is an easy swap since they were intended for the 57 chassis... 429/460 require a six cylinder radiator side mounts and a V8 tanks... personally I've had both combinations and still perfer the Y Block... less HP but a better sound and plenty of torque...

I LOVE '57 Customs and Custom 300s! I have had about 20 of them in the past 5 years or so and have a 300 that will coming up for sale for about $10K soon.It has a 272-3speed/ovd,Blue & White.
Pictures are of my "Fireball" Roberts replica with a 312 and original Paxton Supercharger. I'm a BIG fan of this motor and it makes close to 400 HP,which is plenty to get you all the speeding tickets you don't want!
Next best is a 406 or 427, but PLEASE... Stay FORD!
Oh yes,if staying stock steering, change to a '58 box as its better than the '57 and more FE manifold clearance(can use stock '58-352 manifolds also).

Confirmed Chevyholic here but a 300 2dr Black/Black,390 tri-power, polished 5 spokes/blackwalls,5speed and I could see myself smiling for miles and miles.

I'm starting a new 57 project car... I have built 312's in my Country Sedan and the 27 exStreamliner... but, it doesn't make since to have two 57's that drive the same... I have access to a FE and truck version top loader w/od ratio as high gear... or, as the gas keeps changing I've actual found myself contemplating a late model combo... I've seen the more common TPF 5.0 and 351's but is there anyone running any newer stuff that fits with stock A frames? Right now I'm still in the process of un-chopping the windshield on the Ranchero so I have plenty of time to figure out the drivetrain but would appreciate suggestions...
