Hey guys, i am looking for a car show to take in this year with my dad. We come down from BC once a year to check out a good guys show either in Spokane or Puyallup. Last year we went to went to Vegas to check out Viva, in my opinion it was hands down a better show then Good Guys. Maybe im just tired of all the billet and gold chainers at the car shows i dunno. Anyways we won't be going back to Vegas this year but still plan on a father/son road trip to Washington. Do any of you guys know of any shows with more tradtional rods? I know nothing will compare to goodguys shows in size but quality is sometimes better then quan***y. I hope i don't offend anyone here im not knocking the big car shows, we are just looking for a change of pace.. thanks!
Hot Rod A Rama - Tacoma, WA....First weekend in August is the plan. Check past threads on this show, it's a great one.
Also Billetproof in Chehalis/Centralia usually in June. An easy drive down I 5 for you. It was probably the most fun we have ever had at a rod run/car show without a car in the show.
Here in Washington State there are some really nice shows to attend. #1 Greenwood Car Show - Seattle, #2 Cool Desert Nights - Richland, #3 Billetproof- Chehalis, #4 Rat *******'s Infestation - Issaquah. If you are into Cruising I highly recommend Cruise the Gorge in The Dallas Oregon, it's right on the Columbia River, it's a three day weekend of fun in the sun. Cruise in on Friday night, Car show on Saturday, and Sunday there's Drag Racing. Billetproof Chehalis, Friday and Saturday night Crusise Downtown Centralia, Saturday Sunday Car show at the Fair Grounds. Ton of fun. What car shows would you recommend? Been a while since I've been to Mission Raceway for a drag race, perhaps I need a road trip. I see Langly has some car function going on every year, is that a good one to attend? Gary
for an awesome smaller show with great variety, try the Twin City Idlers show in Stanwood Washington.
The Northwest has the luxury of many shows all summer long .Big ones and small ones too.I don't know your time schedule or what kind of cars you like ,but you might think about finding an area that interests you then see when there is a show around that area .That way if you don't dig the show you can have a good time visiting a new area . My wife and I went to the Oregon coast last summer and started a car show at an air museum in Hood River Oregon saw some great Windsurfers but the show was a little light .We went from there to Van Couver Wa.to a Killer cruiz night call Cruiz the Gutt . It was fantastic .We then went on to the coast for a couple of days .Just another way of looking at things .Good luck.
Seaside in Sept. is fun, and you can also hit the End of the World run in long beach, Washington on the same weekend. I too really enjoyed the Billetproof show, and will be going back to it for sure.
If yer only coming down for one show......make it Billetproof. Lots of activities going on....and it's a few days. And wasn't last year the final Hotrodarama????
From what I've seen Billetproof would be a good choice if you are looking for more traditional stuff. It's a held at a nice little fairgrounds and the cruise night is a hoot! There is a great car count and variety at GG Puyallup but you won't regret a trip to Billetproof if next year is anything like the last couple of years.I've heard good things about hotrodorama too but haven't gotten there to see for myself yet.
There is usually a "Master List" of car shows in the Northwest that is published every Spring. I know I usually pick them up at any of the shows, or off the Internet. I'll see if I can find the website or link. Here's the 2010 one as an example. http://www.majesticgl***.org/myweb7/NW_car_show_schedule.pdf Here's Washington only 2011 partial list of events: http://www.oldride.com/events/washington.html This is usually a pretty good source of what's going on too. http://www.cruzinmag.com/index.html
