One of my p***ions when I was young and novas were plentiful and reasonable; I wanted to build a 2-dr. wagon.

I had a '62 w/4 cyl/3spd in the 70's. Not fast but the little ****** would go forever on a a tank of gas. wish I still had it for a parts chaser.

Here is my 1966 Chevy II Wagon. It has a warmed up 283 and a four speed. The stock brakes work well. Good luck on your future wagon!

First of all......is this a street, set up for racing,or a runway? Just curious.

Secondly, to the OP; nothing wrong with a Powerglide, especially on the strip. My old 63 Nova Wagon, with a mildly built 327, one of my beefed Glides with a 4500 RPM stall converter, and 4.88 equipped Positraction rearend sure gave the 5.0 Mustang and Z28 Camaro guys fits. NO headers (Rams horns), ******* bars, Dutchman 4-bolt axles, and a gutted interior; the only drawback were the stock brakes; marginal at best on anything but a skateboard. A very fun car I sold to a friend (less engine), who promptly totaled it (stock brakes again) after dropping a built 350 in it. The early Nova/Chevy II Wagons make nice sleepers. Here is a pic of my 64 Acadian. I've still got the stock 194 6 in it, runs great. The stock brakes work fine, but my car is a cruiser, I never speed.
My opinion, I would not go with wide whites. They would not look right, your car is too new. Go with thin whitewalls, and chrome wheels or 60's style mags. That's my plan as soon as I can afford it...I hope this spring.

I just picked up a 62 wagon from a fellow HAMBer on Saturday. It is sitting on the trailer as I type. I will take it off the trailer when I get to the shop today. I have a full day ahead of me working on other people's junk,so unfortunately I will not be able to tear into her until later in the week. I have been researching the wagons and what can be done with it. It is going to be a fun car! ;)

I just thought I'd throw this one into the mix. It belongs to a co-worker of mine. He bought it a couple of years ago as a runner and since then he's probably put another $20,000 to make it "his". It's too bad he wasted all that money on those wheels and tires.
