I believe the X51 was out of Portland, Oregon. I think it may still be there too.

The car is now in Northern California, and sometimes shows up at the Goodguys event in Pleasanton. I've seen it several times. I forget his name, but the guy who owns it is super nice. It was originally built in the NW area.

i really appreciate the info guys. any suggestions on how i might track down the "ny" clone. there have to be a couple of other old farts besides myself! the story is i had the "clone" bought or so i thought oh so long ago. would like to track it down if possible. seems identical to X51, white R&P and at that time was running a warmed over flathead. thanx again, larry

Larry, I don't know where the car was between Ron, the builder and Bob the current owner and it could well have been back there. But one fact you will enjoy............ when Bob finished the restoration of the car, he drove it from California to Ron's home in the Portland area and gave Ron the keys and said....... "take her for a drive".

As an easterner growing up glued to and in awe of the California cars in the magazines, I almost wrecked my rental car when I went to the LA roadster show in the 90s and I saw it driving toward me on the street. That, that, that's the X51!!! Holy ****! I hadn't seen it since it was in the magazines in the 50s and never knew it still existed. I still love that car. I think it's so cool because it is not chopped.

I know this sounds lame to most of you but you'd have to have walked in my shoes to understand.
