carb spacers

    have a 406 sbc runs on 110 race gas it has a tunnel ram with 2 450 holleys, the guy i bought the car from had this setup, has 2in open spacers, i heard that the four hole spacer would be better, or dont know if i need them at all, any help? thanks

    open spacers add plenum volume, which is usually not needed with a two piece tunnel ram, but testing may have revealed that your engine likes it.

    4 hole spacers increase signal to the carbs.

    trial and error, my friend. See what she wants.

    I had my 415 on the engine dyno and made pulls with:

    carb only
    1 inch open: 5hp gain
    2 inch open: 10hp gain
    2inch open +1 inch super****er: 12hp gain
    1 inch super****er alone: = same 12hp gain

    then i put it in the car with no room for a spacer.....

    The 4 hole ones are great for low end torque....

    I run 2- 2" open spacers on my Weiand. Response is awesome! just add lots of pump shot and jack the Pump shooters up to the mid 40's. Top end is a bear also!

    In this case, I actually did LOL!

    I can picture myself doing the exact same thing!
