I sometimes run one solid on the drivers side in my Chevy IIs. It's a little less vibration and also makes it a bit easier to get the bolts in. Helps if you've got like minded buddy to pitch in on a pair.
Coming from a racing background, if I was running High Horsepower, I'd go with a motor plate in the front and a midplate. Be safe. I used to bust transmission cases, learned the hard way, put plates in the car and cured the problems.
Im shooting for 500 hp and plan on hammering on it at the track but it will see more street duty than strip
Use a standard mount with a 1/2" bolt through the center. Tack weld the nut. Only tighten it enough to slightly compress the rubber. It will give you vibration isolation and keep you from pulling the mount apart. BTW, 500 HP isn't that high...
I twisted the **** out of a couple Lakewood solid motor mounts for a small block chevy in one of my '69 Camaros I used to own... WOH!!!
rubber mounts, and a chain on the driver side that limits upward movement to less than 1/8". but I have more than 500 hp, and it ain't no little small block
I didn't think it was possible to twist the Lakewood mounts... I should have taken some pictures of them..
