Site Rules .. Do people read them. Been looking throught the ads recently and noticed the huge number who post on others ads or insist on calling stuff rat rod material. Not that I worry too much about whether these should be rules or not, but they are. One guy I looked at has only 66 posts on here (newbie) but every one of them is in the ad section and probably half are on other peoples ads. Are people illiterate, ignorant or just could give a fck.? example of guy above. "I would say car is 99% completeand needs restored , rat roded or maded into a streetrod " Good for a laugh I guess.
need for speed in todays world I was in a rush and posted on a ad or 2 early on but rembered and removed the posts do you think most even read the posting rules??i doubt it, fact is i cant rember them either~~
I'll admit it, when I was a FNG, I didn't read the rules. I posted on a coupe ads and got my hand smacked with a ruler by a moderator. I'll tell you one thing though.....won't do it again.
I think the bulk of the people who have signed up within the last three years really don't have a clue as to what this website was intended for. Some of the statements and discussions I've seen defy logic....
I read the rules when i joined up after having been a lurker for quite a while. It's called Respect. Like octane, it's hard to come by these days. Devin
It doesn't take very long to read the Guidelines...but, some just don't take the time. It's sad, but in today's world some "attention spans" are very short, and not all read the fact that there ARE rules. And, some really mean no harm...they just do what they think is okay, even when it's not, 'cause they REALLY don't know any better. They eventually get "sorted out" and learn the hard way. And.........it would be nice if there was some rule against writing huge, long winded, no punctuation, no capitals, say it all in one big paragraph posts. But I guess that's asking too much ya think? Maybe they could appoint someone to be the "paragraph police."
I see alot of newbies on here getting $#!+ for not doing a intro..i never did a intro..is doing a intro a rule??
As a high school English teacher, I can tell you that virtually no amount of rule reading will remedy this. We live in a world where so many have become used to writing with their thumbs that they have forgotten how to punctuate, capitalize, and a plethora of grammar rules that seem quite elementary.
Opps!! I put my girl friend on top because I am always ****ing up !! Yep me too I am getting better please give me chance to right my evil ways. I only learn from my mistakes !!
I guess I am one the newish people who might (unintentionally) give some of you the ****s. I read the rules when I signed up, however in my excitement at finding this amazing site, I didn't do an intro and went straight to a post. I had just bought a car and in my delirious state just wanted to jump in and find stuff out! I learned the hard way that I posted in the wrong spot and that I should do an intro, which I then did with an apology. I will be honest and say that when I signed up, I didnt "get" what the HAMB is about, I still don't think I do 100%. I didnt set out to piss anyone off, just in my excitement to get involved I didnt realise the importance of the rules. I try hard now to stick to the rules, but there are lots of them and sometimes I still get it wrong
I thought so. Rules: 1. No profanity in subject lines 2. No political/religious/racial posts 3. No ****. 4. All personal information listed on this board is private and protected. The HAMB does not sell this information and you are not privy to use it for your own reasons. Test us on this one and we will bite. 5. New Users must fill out thier profiles. Every bit that you can. Simply click on "User Cp" above and get to work. 6. New users must introduce themselves in the intro forum.
I read the rules when i joined, but still screwed up a few times. One of the great things here is the good people who will let you know where you went wrong. It seems like a lot of dont read them and blunder around untill they do.
Agreed...and worse yet, some seem to read the rules and then ignore them.... " I don't care about traditional ****,I think my rat rod is the coolest blah blah blah". Complete disrespect. I think the H.A.M.B. is like a micro version of anything in life...25% of the people involved don't have a clue whats going on...
One adam 12 be advised 459 knives and chains see the man......!! don't chase the dumb****s away they have some good deal if you can sort through their ********. spoke with a couple real fumb****s that just wanted to trade the **** they got from grandpa's shed for some cash to get high, you know the story....
So true! Also, lots of people coming on here lately trying to rewrite history, so they can "fit in". Paul
I'm not sure if it's a rule or not, but it's polite. If I just walked up to you having never met you and started talking to you, I would expect to be ignored or told to hit the effin' road---I'd get a wierd look at a minimum. It's just the right thing to do----
rules are made to be broken. with all the ( im telling guys on here) i dont think they need mods other than deleting posts or moving them.
Well then your *** is made for slapping. I don't mind the dudes who get in a fever and post on the ads so much. That is what message boards are for. Only thing is that most message boards don't see this kind of traffic so we try and limit useless posts as it kills ads. and no one needs to read through all the "Man I wish I was closer" "Nice car" ****. I do mind the dudes who post "PM sent" or "I'll take it" and never do. There are tons of ads with these types of replies in them. Followed up by more bumps from the seller. I think some would be buyers see those posts, figure it's gone and move on. Oh well, the only ones that really bother me are the guys who KNOW the rules and continuously break them anyway. That is quite irritating.
A lot of other sites are set up where you can't start a thread until you have a number of posts in other threads. This seems like an idea that would work pretty good around here. It gives you an idea of how the site works before you get to make your first thread. . . . but my favorite posts are **** like "my thread got deleted", then you open it up and it says "why did my thread get deleted?" and that's all. Like everyone is keeping tabs on this guy's activity and knows what the f*ck he's talking about.
Oh the irony. You posted this in the wrong forum. Stop trying to be a moderator. It's not good for ya... Uhhh. What the hell are you talking about? I think you are flat wrong. Maybe this isnt the forum for you?
