    powder coated? late 50s build?

Paint everything you have the patience to paint, and chrome however much you can afford to chrome.

I prefer paint over powdercoat for one simple reason. "tuch up" you can blend paint. My drag boat had a lot of powdercoat and over the last couple of years I have eliminated most of it. Most of the parts are polished now, the same amount of wiping either way. Thats just my opinion.

if you need to match the paint to the powder coat, you should be able to take the frame to a paint supplier who has a machine that reads the color off the frame and gives the formula to mix the right color paint.

I was sayin to use it for reference purposes. You can get an idea of what it will look like together with the diferent parts different colors. Once you know which parts go what color you can blast and paint/powdercoat for the desired result.

I paint cars for a living and dont think many people can visually tell the difference between paint and powdercoat. My $.02

Take the powder coater a 8x8 steel blank have him powder coat it the color of the frame use it for a sample to match.

Painted frames collect rock chips if you drive the hell out of the car. That's one way to tell.
